Sainz looking at the FW46: I can fix her. Reminder, he is a workaholic, very technically minded, has actually surprised Ferrari with his willingness to go above and beyond at the factory, is well respected by engineers from all teams he was at previously and, whilst correlation ain't causation, lest we forget, while he was at both McLaren and Ferrari they improved massively from a technical perspective. He can provide feedback, he does understand the specifics of multiple frontrunner cars and he has proven capable of adapting to multiple different vehicle characteristics, not to mention his strategic abilities. Williams finally improving their internal methodologies by switching to a proper parts tracking solution from Excel alongside other investments will likely benefit massively from Sainzs experience and talent.

Instead of being pessimistic about him going to Williams, I want to look on the bright side: Wewill get to see Carlos Sainz's contributions be part of the effort to turn Williams around from their costly 2024 season. That is what we are guaranteed to see him do, and only time will tell if Williams turnaround is a success. If Williams and Carlos Sainz does pull back into the midfield fight, this will be a nice hat trick for Carlos Sainz, which will make it three for three historic legacy F1 teams he was a part of assisting them in their pull up back to relevancy. After beginning his career in the high pressure Red Bull Junior team partnering Max Verstappen, he was moved to Renault as part of an agreement between Red Bull and Renault back then. I believe his experiences at these two teams nurtured his mindset and independence. He joined McLaren in 2019, after a disappointing 2018 year for them, and he, along with teammate Lando Norris, began pushing McLaren back into the midfield. The second time he brought a team back from poor form was Ferrari, where he joined in 2021, after their crippling 2020 season. Hopefully, his time at Williams will also be bringing back this team into the midfield fight. For my bonus wishlist for what I do want to se Carlos Sainz and Williams do It will be great to see him sneak the Williams onto the Podium, McLaren Brazil 2019 and Ferrari Hungary 2021 style. Even better if he can strategise a Williams Race win, just like what he did for Ferrari in Singapore 2023.

I'm anticipating that Sainz will show that Albon is not as fast as he perhaps believes he is. Albon has only had Latifi and Sargent as measuring sticks, and Colapinto's initial speed proved that Albon wasn't as dominant as many perhaps thought. The way he has carried himself since Ferrari announced Lewis has been inspiring. I love Lewis huge fan and I also love Sainz sad for him but this just shows how brutal F1 can be. I hope Lewis performs well at Ferrari no doubt he will but he’s got extra pressure now because he will initially be compared with Sainz from the getgo he won’t be given that bedding in grace in a new team. Sainz will be in Aston Martin in couple years I think Alonso will give way. But mega job from Williams getting Sainz he will be a valuable asset for sure!

Well, if rumors from Italy for the last 4 years are true, then he will never have another shot at a top team. It was a lot of rumors about how toxic Sainz and his camp is, with his Cousin and Manager being the biggest asshole. Sainz also showed himself over and over again, that if he has to choose between his glory and team glory, he's always choosing his glory. The problem is that he's no consistent enough, or good enough, like Max for example, to have the luxury of doing that. Look at the last few months, when every single of his interviews included the words "I want to win the Constructor Championship for Ferrari". He always speaks like some kind of great multiple champion, but he's nowhere near, and never will be.

One thing we scan over with Stroll is that he refuses to give anyone around his son’s age a seat. Overpaying for past champions can only last so long since the grid is getting younger. We’ll definitely see a more wreckless stroll if the rookies come in and show better pace.

I personally think Williams and Carlos got a great deal here and I wouldn't be surprised if one day Carlos says it was the best move he ever made. James is one of the new TP's and he is building Williams from the ground upwards. That means they will be innovating everything. From previous interviews with James and Alex, you get the sense that he listens and values his drivers input. He's mentioned several times that Alex has spent a lot of his time helping his team mates, supporting them and even giving them advice on turns, gears etc. This is something you don't hear often. So thinking about it, out of Carlos and Lewis. I feel Carlos won't have the political house of cards like they do at Ferrari. He can put himself into the team and 2026 car.

Rather disingenuous to not mention that he was offered a year's extension to his contract by Ferrari but he turned it down as he was holding out for more. That tactic is what cost him his seat as, when Lewis suddenly became available, Sainz was the one left without a seat in the game of driver musical chairs. I fear he's also made a huge mistake going to Williams rather than Sauber/Audi. I agree with the first part but not the second part. Sauber seem unprepared and all rumours are that the Audi engine is also a disaster which will be down on power too. Binotto himself has said he has no hope for the Audi to be the best engine and that the engine is far behind and it will be simply about minimising the power deficit IIRC.

Accepting a 1 year deal is just kicking the can down the road. Ferrari, only being willing to offer a 1 year deal at most shows Sainz that they don't consider him a long-term prospect. Honestly, a 2 year deal for 2025 and 2026 would've been great for both parties. Keeping Sainz just for 2025, then replacing him in 2026 means their new driver won't be up to speed with the team for the regulation change. Kinda crazy that they went with Hamilton instead of Sainz, but Hamilton is more for marketing than his speed I guess, they already know Leclerc is their number 1 and Lewis won't trouble him, which Sainz did... occasionally.
