This was a great segment and I loved it. The “organic” look of the watches does remind me of corral or deep sea topography. It also gives the impression of a heavy patina of a watch found under the Titanic! His style would pair well with meteorite as they’re both other worldly, I wonder if he has used it before. Custom dial makers for the next?
@richardman284 жыл бұрын
Mr Biver, never get bored of him talking. He always makes sense. Rene Beyer as he and his family has sold thousands of watches and love to know his opinions about the most stunning pieces he has had the pleasure to sell and John Mayer because he is the most iconic watch collector and an insane collection. And last but not least John Goldberger as he has the most rarest collection of watches on the planet.

Great watches, a great engraver and a really fun, honest, and down to earth guy. The only unfortunate downside you will have to come to terms with is that the resale value won't be there if you were to purchase them for their retail prices. Therefore, you are making a conscious effort to lose a significant sum of money if you were to purchase them at retail. However, they would be excellent pick-ups on the secondary market and would sell for perhaps half the price. I know the Gronefeld Tourbillon he engraved can be picked up for $120k-130k USD. It is a hard value proposition to buy one of these when you can buy that for such a great price. With all that being said, I would take one of those over any Patek any day even if it was a tourbillon/repeater. No one would care about your Patek, no matter how complicated, if you walked into a room with one of his skeleton tourbillons on your wrist.
@MrKeesengelbarts4 жыл бұрын
You might be right and you might be wrong about the value argument. My grand-dad taught me that the value of something is the price that a fool is willing to pay. I'm not saying that my customers are fools, on the contrary. I have to put a price tag on my work and do that as honest as possible by calculating time and material. This being said, my watches are unique and therefore extremely rare so logically the price might as well go up. Most of my customers are extremely happy with the watch I made for them and I don't think they buy to re-sell but because the love my work. As I said in the interview, my work is my hobby and I'm glad that my hobby permits me to make a living. Alas, I cannot make cheap watches because that would mean that I have to make concessions to the quality and that's something I don't want, and therefore don't choose, to do. That's my choice and luckily for me, most of my customers understand that. I hope my answer makes sense, I'm gonna make myself a cup of tea ;-)
