I can definitely see the story behind the concept of Relicanth's evo line. The young, vibrant pre-evo is like a brand new sailboat hitting the seas for the first time while the old decrepit stage is one that had sunken and had suffered years of degradation. Perhaps you could've found the pre-evo while surfing along the water surface while encountering the later stage while diving down to the deeps.

I just had an awesome idea! What if it was like mega evolution. The evolution lottery pokemon only evolved into a random pokemon for that battle alone. Then, when you are done with the battle, it reverted back to its base form. You could be stuck with a weedle for that battle or have a latias, but at the end of battle, you got the eborotto back. Basically metronome transform.

Relicanth is actually based on a prehistoric fish known as the Coelacanth. It's hard to picture an young/old aesthetic when Relicanth is literally prehistoric.

I think the lottery Pokemon was cut because of problems with programming For example, Wurmple evolves into Cascoon or Silcoon depending on its PID, imagine doing that but with a Pokemon that can evolve into multiple Pokemon, it would be insane to program an algorythm for that Wether the evolution depends on the PID of the Pokemon or the frame where it evolves, it would still be insane to program

Wouldn't the middle stage between Beta Shroomish and Beta Breloom be that weird baby bird with red flowers on either side of its head? It's yellow like the others, has blossoms like Shroomish but a birdlike anatomy like Breloom, it seems like a perfect fit

Gen 3 was apparently meant to be a full reboot, in a similar vein as Gen 5 ended up being with no old Pokémon in the region whatsoever. With that in mind I could see Eborotto being pretty much the new Eevee... but with a different gimmick to its evolution-method.

Idea: The Lotto evolves into anyone pkmns first stage, then at 35+ and send evo, then at 55+ any 3rd evo BUT you have to have at least seen it with it in your party.

I have to speak out, before people start treating misinformation as fact (which I hate). I've been in TCRF all week, and a lot of information is either wrong or incomplete. -As far as I know, there's a compiled dex document that has a lot of developer notes. This is where most of us see what the "intended" evolution lines were. However, there's also speculations not even the developers/hackers knew what was what. -One source claims that Elhawk (Latiken) was supposed to be a Delibird prevo, but it wasn't. It was though to _look_ like one. -Archeon (Grovyle) was never confirm to evolve from Beta Scraggy (who people seem to be calling Scrafty). Their only connections are similar color palettes and being lizards. -Based on the same document that says the Beta Spinda was to evolve into Paotsu, people also assume that it was reworked into Zagoose, but Gen 3's scratchpad has a different beta design for Zangoose. -Then we have other weirdness, like the shrub becoming Tropius, the water moss becoming the fairy-like small oni, and the ganguro flower girl becoming the bug-like red flower lily (Yuu'uu/Lillidy).

Relicanth is supposed to be a map right ? If you look at the pre-evoluition design it's fins resemble the sails of a ship. I think that in addition to its contrasting youthful appearance and the adventurous look in its eye its meant to be symbolic of a young sea farer setting off for their first adventure. Relicanth by contrast having completed the map and having a much older and reserved appearance is meant to represent a former adventurer who has seen everything there is to see and now is at rest at the end of their journey.

I think out of all of the teraleak stuff I'm disappointed in, it's Evolotto. I would LOVE to have this pokemon be real, given the hypothesized mechanic. Honestly i'm quite skeptical about the Shrub pokemon evolving into Tropius and that mysterious middle stage that's not mentioned anywhere in the leak, I wonder where tcrf got their source on that since evolution data doesn't seem to have been anywhere in the leak I believe it's best to always go with a bit of skepticism when it comes to leaks until the waters calm down and we can confirm the sources of some information, because some false info is bound to slip with all of the legitimate content that's getting unearthed, just my two cents

I kind of suspect the Relicanth pre evolution might be indicative that it was going to be an actual fossil pokemon. Before the surprise discovery of live coelecanth they were exclusively known from fairly ancient fossils. This could be paralled in the games by having them be revived from a fossil in the game, but having a rare spawn of them in the wild when diving as a surprise for those lucky enough to find it. The pre evolution would make it a two stage, like all the other fossil mons to that point. It has the rock typing to match. Lobe finned fish are significant fossils because they represent a significant step in the development of all tetrapods. The pre evolution also resembles many of the weird and awkward looking ancient "fish" species. ETA: The young/old dichotomy could fit into the revival/wild concept as well. The young pre evolution can only be found by reviving a fossil or breeding and bringing a new one to life. The old, evolved form could be the one rarely found in the wild, as an ancient looking, grizzled survivor.

Looking at those that do not have sprites that might be due to them being cut before they was officially drawn. The artist might of not been able to think of proper designs that would do justice and the mons was dropped as a result. The only reason they remained in any form was due to them being something that the artist could come back to later if anything design wise came to mind which is why you can see some mons get reworked in later gens. Also a mon that can change into any mon or at least a set of mons would of been great for nuzlock runs.

Eborotto is a Pokemon Game Freak should rescue at some point. He being basicly a Ditto but for evolutions would be awesome. I can also understand why he was scrapped, since you could get any type of Pokemon registered in the pokedex and would be kind of broken for certain types of pokemon, but idk they could make him a Pokemon "one of a kind gift" from an NPC like Castform was and rework him being able to evolve into any non legendary/starter Pokemon with the risk of once you evolve it, you can not have another one unless you trade another from other game

I think original grovyle could’ve inspired Archeops. It has a similar color scheme, and if you combine current grovyles colors it’s the 4 colors that make up Archeops. Plus the fact it was called something similar makes it seem like a possibility. The fossil for Archen is in the desert resort in black and white which is also connected to where scraggy can be caught which would be a cool nod.

The concept of Eburotto was probably scrapped because it was hard to implement or even balance. If it learned moves, it could make for some Pokémon getting moves that doesn't make sense for them, but if it didn't, then it would be a Magikarp 2.0 but more gimmicky

The first Pokémon game I played was Sapphire and I still have mine and Gen III became my favourite generation so far apart from Gen IV, so these Gen III cut evolutions is great to see. 3:08 you can actually see this Pokémon being an evolution for Spinda. Really? I don't see how as it looks nothing like Spinda and I don't really see a Panda either apart from maybe the white patches. Eborotto sounds like it would have been a very interesting and unique Pokémon if it did evolve into a number of random Pokémon. Its sprite to me makes it look like a squat, Girafarig without the second head, head horns or coloration.

I actually really like the Manectric evolution, it looks like it was supposed to be based on a shooting star so we might have possibly ended up with a dual-type if they hashed it out.
