Jamar did AB interview on the pivot podcast right before he was drafted and he stated that he was getting too big aced that he got up to 215 + and that he plays around 208/210. He’s about 6’0 and that’s pretty damn big for a receiver.

I played at UW back in the early 2000's. So many of us power cleaned 315+. I watched the DB's and Receivers clean 315+ as freshman and sophmores. Terry johnson (Chicago bears) hang cleaned 405 with no straps while at UW. Its impressive but certainly not abnormal for D1 college athletes.

@@ralphorlatei6760some men are just freak athletes. Whether it be natural strength and/or height. There’s gifted people. You see all these basketball players that are like 6’8 and up? That’s not normal but we accept it. We don’t accept the fact that some guys are just strong naturally. Jealous much? If/when he pisses hot, don’t assume he’s on gear. Innocent until proven guilty, thats how it should be. After all, yall pilgrims created that system

I first started weightlifting in football. Only power cleans and full snatches. Then on to hang cleans more in college. I am no where near an nfl guy im 5’9 lol. Nfl guys giving up on cleans is absurd to me i myself can now after getting much more in to weightlifting clean 345 (lbs im not converting rn lol) maybe lil more if i actually did a de-load but ill never know lol. My power clean in hs was 275. Ive sustained injuries but i swear the only reason i can grab rim again is from cleans. And thats off two feet not one lol guys in the nfl should absolutely be doing them and should be able to do more than me.

00:38 To be fair, American coaches seem to think technique is the key to everything when in reality a lot can be accomplished with more strength/power. I'm not scared of 225lbs for example, because I know even if something were to go wrong, I can handle it.

@sabertoothwallaby2937 I can full clean but at a very narrow stance, which isn't how you load big weight. I'm a 43 year old that spent the last 6 years driving 1,000+ miles a week and really messed up my hip ROM. It's taken 3 weeks of 30 minutes of mobility a day just to get into an atg at a slightly wider than shoulder stance. Let me tell you, it's like scraping barnacles off a ship. 😂

Fyi, he did pull his knees back which is why it didn't need to be addressed. He did a great job keeping his chins vertical in the starting position. Edit: To follow up with this. You even correct yourself multiple times when you say "pulling knees back". Its like you know its important but you refuse to say it and instead you say "positioning".
@blixmax

I think that you are misunderstanding what you heard in the video? Or maybe I am... Dane was criticizing other coaches for claiming athletes shouldn't be coached to push their knees back using Ja'Marr as an example of how someone completely untrained gravitated toward the beneficial positioning.

I disagree. The poweclean helps develop force distribution in a quick amount of time, which is something most athletes can benefit from. If it didn't help, then strength and conditioning coaches wouldn't program it.
