It's a genetic mutation that may cause males to develop breasts, delay puberty and/or not grow as tall as an average male. The overwhelmingly vast amount of males affected with Klinefelter's syndrome live out their lives as male. Telling a male child "This proves you're a female" makes as much sense as telling a female "You have excess body hair, that makes you a male." Science is real.

Of course, there are parents who would go against the doctors / therapists recommendation and transition their kids abroad. However, it is extremely rare. Most of the time, parents were told "if they don't approve the medication or surgery, their kids are going to commit suicide or social services will take their kids away."

I know someone who was a leading trans campaigner who had become post-operative transsexual at 21. At 42, “her” depression was overwhelming. “She” wanted to become a man again, and having lobbied and worked for Health Canada was convinced that a cadaver’s penis could be harvested and sown back on. Not only was this completely incorrect, but incredibly, well, twisted. By the way, “she” told me that by paying $100 for a remote psychological assessment back in the day, authorisation was given for a complete top and bottom surgical alteration of the originally fully intact male body of this person into that of a sterile, faux female. Life was enjoyed for a few years, but then the reality that this had basically been an ill thought out whim came crashing into the long term reality of being neither fully a woman nor a man, and still not fitting in despite irreversible physical changes which were covered up by delusional thinking.

And they certainly weren't handing out approvals for sex-reassignment surgery. Conceivably they could have offered hormone prescriptions online, only I never heard of such a thing. What is inconceivable is that a woman in her 40s imagines that she can harvest a penis from a cadaver. And how do you wait 21 years before becoming dissatisfied with your sex change? If you've spent all your adult life in one sex, what could cause you to want to change that, and why wouldn't a therapist or surgeon have detected potential misgivings back in the day? If we give the story the benefit of the doubt, then we have to suppose that this person is highly unstable, and in another ten or twenty years will want to be a woman again. Finally, 20-odd years ago no one spoke of "top and bottom surgical alteration"; that's a latter-day turn of phrase. When people had "the surgery" that meant srs, not cosmetic face remodeling or breast augmentation. So the story is a big fat fib from beginning to end.

Even if some people claim they have been happy with the service it still doesn't determine that puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgery is the only way for them to have reached that proclaimed happiness especially taking into account the damage all those things do if not immediately then definitely at a time further on down the line from the questionnaire that declared them "happy" in the immediate effect. If left alone the vast majority of these kids end up accepting of themselves past the age of 18 anyway, so its not justifiable to claim that chopping them up and destroying their physical and mental future has some kind of efficacy based on a sort term questionnaire. All you had to do was listen to story after story of young people talking about their own personal experiences. I only had to hear one person say “ the day I turned 18 I drove to a clinic 100 miles from where I lived and emerged 30 minutes later with testosterone,“ to understand how corrupt this industry is. Make it lifelong patient and have none of the pesky business of follow up. There’s an excellent four part series from Sweden about how they’ve turned around their gender industry to slow it down. And it clearly see how slick the corruption is. To create plausible deniability throughout the process, you have a medical part and a mental part, but they have no mechanism for coordinating between the two. Even if you assume - - I believe wrongly - - that there is no mental peace to the desire to transition, you cannot deny the need for follow up post transition, both medically and psychologically. But it’s not done. In the most prestigious, medical and psychological organizations, adopt a strict policy of a firm. Only, you should see the corruptness. Puberty blockers have only been around for less than 20 years there’s no long-term studies. It be minus one of the basic things that has set medicine apart which is the intellectual desire to study causes and results. All this best 😮practice is thrown out the window in an effort to overturn thousands of years of biology knowledge. It’s like we’re in the middle of a Dr. Mengele inspired experiment.

The problem is we need long term studies, that do not only cover the first few years of transition. Also, how can an adult, who has never gone through puberty as a child, ever know how he or she would have fared not transitioning? Children are robbed their own development, many will be sterile and never have an orgasm. So how can they ever know how it would have been? They have been robbed the opportunity to come to terms with their sexed body.

I don't believe that the old evidence base is weak or invalid in any way. I don't think it applies to many of these youth though, because they are presenting with these issues because of social contagion. It was insane to ever give puberty blockers to teenagers. Puberty is too important and should never be interfered with or jeopardized in any way, and outcomes are already showing as predicted by those with level heads that it doesn't work the way it is claimed to by all the so-called experts.

The one girl I know about who was transitioned at Tavistock who tried tried to detransition still looks and sounds like a boy. She was so upset about that that she sued. How can she be doing that well now?!

The only explanation for the sudden phenomenon of youth having gender "confusion" can only be explained by rampant social media information or misinformation, or a sudden rise in mental instability. Parents need to retain their rights to decisions. What has never changed--forever--is that teens are experimental with a lack of maturity which is why parents must retain some control of life-long decisions.

Not really, there is still homophobia today - so you could be a gay kid growing up in that environment and so you feel (wrongly) that you are really trans when the gender issue you have is really as a result of you being a gay boy or girl and not coming to terms with your own sexuality. I've seen this sort of thing before: the interviewer (in this instance the UK's treasure Andrew Doyle) seems to want to lead the subject a certain way, to fly the tattered old 'anti-woke' flag or even use these trendy terms-- but they're temperamentally refusing, oblivious to the paradigm. Ms Barnes just WON'T be the the person the interviewer seems to want her to be. Her responses clearly showed me that she's trying to be academic, logical, rational, fair and rigorous in her research and assessment of this sprawling, complex cultural issue. Interviewers seem to want such people to tow the 'anti woke' team line, which I'm getting tired of seeing. Worst, is when the American Conservative Chrisitans get in on this stuff; it's all filtered through religious belief/moral relativism and volleyed at the Socially Progressive 'Left Wing' clubhouse as if there were no foot soldiers roaming the playing ground in between. Most people I consider intelligent and cultured are exactly those people; not part of either cartoonish Americanised 'team'. What is going on with our species? Are we getting stupider and simpler?! Either way, Ms Barnes just refused to be the person Doyle and so many others assumed she'd be, going by the questions continually rephrased and asked of her over and over.

@@lh2435 It's desperately sad to behold these unstable, lost, mentally agonised teens and young folks being marshalled through this pathway so hastily instead of having a far more holistic, tailored, thorough type of therapy that addresses their own unique angst and confusion. I hope a great deal more of them sue, as you said. I also hope that more come out of the woodwork to talk generously and candidly about their experience. That's of far more value to me than listening to the strident theorising and never-ending thought experiments from over-exposed gasbagging American academics and ideologues. The mentally unwell have been horribly neglected and used in our era, it's them I feel for.
