and of course the therapist will have to be acting from Self and have done the work to make it possible and naturally effortless to allow then to remain unwavered - neither of which is a given from my experience - because they haven't found IFS. The system is utterly world changing and if it hasn't yet helped you, give it a few goes because it might not work/be understood immediately and anyway, it's better than 2nd place by miles. I had accessed Self a lot prior to being shown the model, it went a long way in speeding up the time it would have taken otherwise but that was a bonus but you might find it easier if have had an effective spiritual practice for some time it's one of the fastest paths to the Self available and more importantly since healing usually takes a little time, it is availble in a much more stable and less distracted way than the usual routes of meditation

If it's difficult for therapist then imagine forfamily members and siblings trying to make sense of it all. Then feeling guilty because we trigger them and make it worse. Vicious circle of hell.

I've had first hand experience of this dynamic in psychoanalysis. Just last session started with me hating her, to feeling like she was getting withdrawn and the hate turned against myself then. I have no idea if she really withdrew, this was just the feeling I got. Could be my own projection. Never know. I hope this suffering would end or even lessens. I hate the therapy and just want to quit, but I think I have to stay strong so I don't do bad mistake.

Many BPD’s abandon therapy all together and exit life out of wanting to end their abject suffering. Suicide is a solution to this issue, a permanent and heart breaking one..

Its a fucked up cultural thing too .. Psycholotherapists often believe uconsciously that they should have the answer, which means that when they don't, the believe in therapists is destroyed, which in their minds was the last grand effort of escaping a victimised hell, now shattered to pieces And therapy being touted in our culture as THE thing, perhaps the last thing, to do to get well again.. makes the conclusion simple: "life is nothing but heartbreak, and those who everyone says are healers, have hurt me the most. Fuck this shit im out" I KNOW ive had that conclusion before, albeit in shadow. Thank god for my addiction, my little cocoon, till i discovered actual ways to heal that don't pathologize or project the locust of control outward.. im now slowly opening up to

I have bpd. I’d be very shocked if I didn’t take my own life. I’ve done so much therapy, meds, trauma work, ketamine therapy, etc etc And I’m always suicidal and it’s quite painful. Now I’m isolated and suicidal. It’s hell

This interview is only explaining what the therapist should do, but as the client with these potential explosive parts, what the hell are we supposed to do??

@@karenbird1279I think trial and error of finding someone who can help you work through it. My psychologist would walk me through what I was experiencing. She showed me visuals on the brain and did breathing exercises with me.

@@Nightswim_ Honestly if you're going to get mind fucked might as well get it from the professionals and get TFP or better yet Kohut and self-psychology is you're averse paternalistic chipping away at transference. DBT is a poor behaviorist substitute for a neoliberal religion. At least psychoanalysis wasn't so robotic.

What about a hypercritical client for whom nothing you do is right, or who imposes a series of double-binds: "Do this-no, don't do that; do this other thing over there-no don't do that," and back and forth and back and forth? You try to do what they ask, and then the next minute it's wrong. It leaves no room for you to do anything.
