Honestly I think Mario Kart 9 will get the smash bros treatment. When everyone believed that we wouldn’t get a smash 5 then like a year or 2 later the Big announcement of Smash 5 was announced in a Nintendo Direct. Mario Kart 9 will literally get that same treatment. I can feel it😂.

I definitely understand why some people might be a little disappointed that it’s not Mario kart 9, but to me, this is still just as awesome. And yes, it is kind of funny how they’re willing to put this much dedication into adding 48 more courses when that amount of dedication could be attributed to just making an entirely new game, i.e. Mario kart 9, but this perfectly suffices to me. There’s active users on 8 Deluxe almost daily, and it’s very obvious why, the game is fantastic! Plus, while the game is an enhanced port of the Wii U version, it is effectively still a new Mario Kart for the Switch. If Nintendo wanted to make another Mario Kart from the ground up, they would probably wait for their next system (as they’ve pretty much always done) that isn’t an updated Switch. Plus, honestly, 8 and 8 Deluxe are gorgeous visually, so I don’t really know how much more you can do to make them better for a Mario Kart 9. I’m honestly pretty hyped, but I have a few requests: Regarding the tracks, Nintendo, please bring back Waluigi Pinball, the Wii Sports Resort Wuhu Island tracks, Wario Colosseum (from Double Dash), DK Mountain (also Double Dash), Daisy Cruiser (Double Dash), and/or the Rainbow Roads from Wii and 7. You can throw in some previous Bowser Castles too if you like. And while the character roster is already huge with characters that honestly shouldn’t exist, let alone be in the roster, have Pauline and Funky Kong in the game (if they made it in Tour, they should make it in here).

I love seeing creators like Mankalor who make MKT content get that wave of vindication that MKT is officially considered a mainline Mario Kart game. I think something people should keep in mind with the online expansion pack is that it only lasts for a year. These courses will be released up until the end of 2023, so if you're planning on getting the online expansion pack now, you're gonna have to pay for it _again_ next year if you want to keep those new courses. Alternatively you could wait until next year and get them all at once. And, that being said, they will probably keep adding more content to the expansion pass, balancing things out again.

No you don't have to pay again IF you buy the DLC SEPARATE from the expansion pack. Nintendo said it on their website and in the eShop.

@@ElectroBlastLuigi Well yeah but then that defeats the purpose of getting it from the expansion pack, meaning that if you WERE to ever get the expansion pack regardless, since you would've gotten the DLC either way, you basically wasted 25$ on top of buying the expansion pack. That is, again, assuming you were going to get the expansion pack anyway. If you JUST want the DLC, then yeah it'd cost you less (that is assuming you didn't also buy the Animal Crossing DLC, in which case.... well it depends on whether you want to keep them permanently or if one year is enough). I believe anyone who cares about saving money should think hard about which option they choose. Sorry if that was too confusing.

I don't understand the Expansion Pack thing, it's $50 a year but as of right now it's kinda mediocre for the price IMO. $25 for the whole dlc right? So why would anyone pay $100 in two years when you can pay it $25 in March ??

It depends how you break it down. Regardless of Mario Kart DLC, if you want to play online, it's $20 a year minimum. For that $20, you get online multiplayer, NES, and SNES games, as well as cloud saves. Now for an extra $30, you get access to N64 games, Sega Genesis games, Animal Crossing DLC, and now Mario Kart DLC. Decent little bundle if you're into retro games, with some perks here and there. Where it really gets more valuable is with the family plan. I share one with 7 of my closest friends. So for $80 a year split between us, all 8 of us get online, NES, SNES, N64, and Genesis games, and all of us have access to both the Animal Crossing DLC (though only 3 of my friends play AC) *and* the Mario Kart DLC (we ALL have Mario Kart). The real value is in the family plan if you have the friends to split it up with. It'll get more valuable if they continue adding DLC to it.

1 year later I still think this is better than mario kart 9 because I think that game might be very simplified. Wii was very deep, seven had less mechanics, the glider was fun tho. and now 8 is very simple. They even made the glider simpler. I prefer 8 deluxe to wii but still they need to add more complexity to 9 because I think they will oversimplify it.

Calling Coco Mountain an OG track lol. You know there was the original SNES game right? Lol. But yeah, as soon as the Direct was over, I did check to see how much online currency I had in my Nintendo account and I had enough to buy the DLC lol. So I am ready for March 18th lol. I find it funny how people love Coconut Mall and while I do think it's a cool track (it was one of the biggest features when MK Wii was announced), but I am in the minority that say it's not my fav, that right belongs to Maple Treeway, which is still my fav MK track. Now if that track would be added to the DLC, then I'll flip lol. I am so happy to also play tracks I've never played before since I've never played any of the handheld games nor Tour. Played every main consul game though. I was like 13 when I first played the original game on my friends SNES. I am normally not into racing games, but this is one of them hehe. It's the only game I'll play competitively too.
