Got 8.3 PH. Always kept fish in high ph water, no issues at all. I've got 8 discus doing amazing, sensitive mormyrids, etc... The only fish I've had issues with is the payara.
@MridulSinghMusic3 жыл бұрын
"Let's put some pants on" LOL Those discus are looking beautiful! And if they've been bred and raised in the hard water, it would actually be a detriment if you tried to bring them back down. They're already used to those parameters. I had a guy in my area as well who did hard water discus.

To have this quality of discus in the fish room is still mind blowing to me. Really hoping we can spawn these and have success.

@unspeakable12703 жыл бұрын
Great video! Excited to see how this all goes. Curious, do you use white paint for all your tanks? Is there benefit over a black paint?
@WeldonTanks3 жыл бұрын
White is the one off in my fish room. I usually use black. With discus I have talked to other breeders locally that use white paint on their tanks. Reasoning I have been told is that when the discus breed and if the parents raise them the white paint allows the fry to find the parents as the parents will be darker against the white paint.
@troyclark19143 жыл бұрын
Lighter color paint also lessens the peppering (the black specks on the white part of the Discus) of the pigeon blood strains of Discus. In a darker tank they will pepper up to blend in with their surroundings.

It is my opinion that water quality and food are the most important for fish to breed. Take the stress away and let them naturally do their thing. Everyone said I would not breed wild caught plecos in hard water and I did.

Just bought a Severum from you guys. Great experience! He is doing well in quarantine, but our 75 gallon has ich. We have been treating for like a week now with salt, turning the heat up, ich meds and our fish seem to be clearing up except our electric blue acara keep getting worse. Any suggestions??
@WeldonTanks3 жыл бұрын
Gave the comment a heart for the severum! We appreciate the support. If you have the ability to I would reccomened removing the Acara into its own quarantine tank and dosing with Ich x or medication of your choice and following the instructions on the med. Raising the heat can assist in speeding up the life cycle of the ich but it is after they drop from the fish that you need to terminate them before they can attach back to a host.

@@WeldonTanks thank you! We moved them and hope they aren't too sick to make the move, but they just weren't getting better. Love to support local and as a fellow KZbinr, I'll definitely have to support the channel!
@BlakeAdamsCO3 жыл бұрын
I'm no expert but one other thing that I've heard from Dan's Fish is to add the Ich-X or whatever med you're using in the evening prior to lights going off. Ich seemingly drops off more-so when lights are off so if you do that, it's ensuring optimal potentcy since the med was just added. May not be truth to this just something I remember hearing. Good luck!

Well water vs tap water, I do not see much difference there. Now, I can say yes and if the the fish die then you can come back and blame me. So, yes, I do think they could do well in your well water, what I would recommend though is doing your research of where you are purchasing them from. It may need to be that for a time you are mixing ro with well water to adjust water parameters.
