Arguably the best introduction to observational astronomy! A maestro of pedagogy explains beautifully the landmark experiments and the physics behind them. Starting with Trumpler's "simple" observations with profound implications--the interstellar dust--Oort and Van de Hulst. Purcell and his horn for detecting 21 cm radiation. Purcell's magnanimity...A lot of nice pictures and great stories to make the journey exciting!.And more....

Thanks you for the wonderful lecture.Regarding slide at 1:36:28, i think the lines which blow up the central supermassive black hole and the watervapour maser should be directed towards the top central reddish part rather than the lower reddish blob as shown in the slide. The SMBH is towards the top for NGC 4258 or M106.

Ganesan Srinivasan Thank you Professor for answering! Amazing lecture series. I truly enjoy the way you teach and lecture. I only wish I had the maths to actually take your course. Your explanations, however, more than make up for my lack of ability 😇
