I have been Catholic all my life and have been going to mass all my life and only experienced the meaning of the mass once,it was after hearing a talk with Jordan Peterson and Bishop Barron. Two weeks later, I heard the priest say, mass is where time stops and iternaty begins,I said wow that was my experience 🌻

God came in STRONG into my life last year around this time. I finally overcame my fear and went to confession for the first time in many years. I’ve been going consistently ever since and truly the amount of graces in my life have multiplied. I’m so grateful that God have me the courage to meet him in confession. I’ve felt so much lighter because of it. I also feel much more grounded and rooted. Small things rarely shake me anymore. It’s a kind of peace I never thought I could experience. Praise God.

Bishop, I attended mass today . I am a 29 year old male who was raised Christian but never confirmed or baptized into the catholic faith . I fell into darkness in my twenties and was far far from the light of God .. it was so different from my previous times attending Mass and I have you and Dr.Jordan Peterson to thank for that . Whereas before I felt alienated at my lack of ability to respond properly at the various prompts and receive communion , I felt like an “other” and was intimidated, but now I see the beauty in the work that must be put into becoming a true catholic and the value of the process of attaining true fellowship with those other worshipers who before I felt judged my inadequacy. Thank you . I am going to start taking RCA classes and aim to be baptized as soon as I can . You are not like other clergy in your interpretation and commentary and it truly is like a drink of cool water to a man parched by the desert sun .

I’m SO grateful for pursuing the BIGGER picture, found in Catholic teaching! I’m a 78yr old former Evangelical-Protestant…been in Bible study, women’s ministry, and a bit of time in Hungary and Romania back in ‘88! I thought I knew something about GOD’s love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, and pursuing holiness of life! BUT I’m excited to say an amazing door opened 5yrs ago, when I became open to listening to Catholic teaching on EWTN! I was received into the Church a year ago last July 11th, and my world has exploded with JOY over the beautiful, rich resources I’ve found! I’m grateful to be a small part of Word on Fire, and to hear Bishop Barron’s homilies and devotions! Thanks be to GOD for allowing me to enter into this part of HIS body! I’m pretty sure I was headed for Heaven before this, but I’m now going with greater understanding and appreciation of a much bigger picture!

I have heard many sermons by Bishop Barron, but this one hits a home run. I needed a pep talk and this is a great one. I am a cradle Catholic who thought adherence to the precepts of the Catholic Church was enough as I grew up. Daily mass and Holy Communion, constant daily prayer alone and in cenacles online and with others in person, volunteer duties at mass almost every day(as Lector and EM), weekly Eucharistic Adoration and more are some of the things I have been doing for the last 3 years. It seems like I am on the right track spiritually. However, God must invade my life through is grace since I still have attachments to sin and monthly confession is a pin prick against an infection that requires surgery. I hope to be invaded and turned around soon!!!!

Ad a 40-year atheist, I'll attest that the bishop's discussion makes z.e.r.o sense in the world of 21st century thinking. Until it does make sense. And yet, even when it does make sense, it doesn't mean you gain understanding. The Lord lets the clouds sculpt themselves day after day. Then one day he reaches in and sculpts them Himself for you. It makes no sense, but you can't deny it. You accept it, and you attend, and then you see-in your own experiences-that the bishop's words here are precisely correct.

I am pretty much positive Bishop Barron is familiar with this anecdote, but it fits so well with his homily. True story: St Francis of Assisi was walking with a fellow Brother one day, and asked Francis of who he thought the greatest sinner was in the present time? Without hesitation Francis said 'I am.' His fellow Brother said 'Surely you're not serious! You are the most Holy person I know.' Francis replied "Only I know what incredible graces and gifts God blessed me with- And how very little I have done with most of them. Therefore, I am the greatest sinner"

I have tears in my eyes thinking about it. So brave, he truly did it. Very overwhelming feelings from your words Bishop Barron, thank you for reminding me of our Dear Peter and the immense love and strength we get from walking and following Our Love, Jesus Christ.

Pescador de Hombres is quite fitting! I am reminded of when it's sung during Spanish Mass. It's awesome to see the Church as like a Living Structure and a Living Body that continues to grow and multiply today with God's grace (as broken and imperfect we are, but God is perfect). Thank you Saint Peter for following the call🙏 and being a model for us.

We sang Pescadore...last night at Mass. The English words...Lord, you have come to the seashore...gently smiling, my name you were saying...fit this gospel so well. Beautiful lyrics! I can’t get it out of my head!

@@marybragiel4807 I’m with you Mary, this song is a poem of truth and I haven’t been able to stop listening and singing either. The lyrics in English are so beautiful, my favorite lines are: “O Lord, with your eyes set upon me. Gently smiling you have spoken my name. All I have longed for I have found by the water. Returning love for the love you gave me. Lord as I drift on the waters. Be the resting place of my heart. My life companion, my refuge.” Just sublime

We sang Pescador de hombres, Lord you have come to the Seashore, as the Offertory Hymn, at the 11:00 AM English Mass in my parish. " Lord, with your eyes set upon, gently smiling, You have called me by name." Thank you, Jesus, from me and all who have received your call!

I am very aware of my weaknesses ,my sins. I try to overcome it myself , it succeeds for a moment bu then I fail. It makes me realise I need to surrender myself to Jesus completely , every second, every moment or else I will fail. I have to give up, nothing I do or none of my own solo efforts will succeed. Jesus has to be in control, he brings out the good in me...he sanctifies me. It takes alot of humility to be able to surrender oneself completely to him. To acknowledge that we are nothing and that he is everything. He is everything that is good in us. It is not by our own effort or our by our own merit, but purely his grace that sanctifies us.
