@Unprepared ToDie It's a horror/thriller movie dude, you're supposed to enjoy the experience of being scared. If you want a movie that explores the corrupting nature of power, Hollow Man still exists. Both are valid examples of an Invisible Man interpretation.

Even the Ancient Greeks knew invisibility would be a problem. They had the legend of the Ring of Gygas: they argued that if anyone got a magic gold ring that made you invisible, someone would definitely abuse it. Hmmm a magic gold ring that makes you invisible sounds familiar...

Yup, knew a medical resident in Baltimore (John's Hopkins) drove 6 hours all the way to Pennsylvania to key her exes car, smash his windows and take a shit in the back seat of his car, and then drove back the same day to establish her alibi. What did this guy do? Absolutely nothing, she felt that he wasted her time because he got matched to residency programs at Penn and University of Maryland and picked Penn because he thought it was a better match. She felt that she wasted 4 years of her life with him, meanwhile she picked her top choice too. Crazy, comes in all shapes sizes and socio economic levels.

Exactly. Especially when you've been with an abuser for so song that they feel like own you amd wont allow/want you to leave..much like they explained in the movie with him controlling what she wore, where she went etc etc. And him yelling her "you will never leave me". This was all believable so idk wtf they were talking about with the whole "you can be doing better things" stuff.

still, it would the equivalent of a multi-millionaire doing petty shit. I'm not saying a multi-millionaire can't be possessive, it's just more likely he has better things going on compared to your average joe. From that aspect, the fact the dudes rich takes away from the movie in my opinion.

I watched the original Invisible Man, it's a very funny movie because the invisible man was such a crazy villain but I wouldn't say it's a slow slide into corruption. They mention briefly that something in the serum causes insanity. He's just kind of high on invisibility juice and his actions are pure anarchy

In the original novel, Griffin was selfishness incarnate even before making himself invisible. The process by which he rendered himself invisible didn't make him do anything; it just allowed to be a bigger asshole than before. He was pretty much a sociopath in the book. In the 1933 movie, he was apparently a shy introvert beforehand, given how out of character everyone describes his outbursts when he's invisible, and indeed they did add the plot element of the drug he used causing insanity. So he's a way more tragic villain in the movie vs. the book. Adrian in this film is way more like Griffin in the novel; pure selfishness.

A ex-con stole a material that can turn things invisible from a lab, made a suit so he can see his daughter(who thinks he's her imaginary friend) without his ex wife knowing it. the toxic material drives him crazy. so if you want a better invisible man story, watch that episode or Hollow man with Kevin Bacon or hell Memoirs of the invisible man with Chevy Chase. I was worried the trailer made this look like another Hollow Man. A very fresh remake. This is Elizabeth Moss's movie. It's a perfect blend of suspense along with mixing gaslighting and toxic masculinity. Every woman's worst nightmare not being able to escape her abuser but it makes it more frightening we can't see him. More of a slow builder but there is solid acting, impressive special effects, and some nail biting action. Pretty bloody too. Could’ve shaved off 20 min plus it’s sad they cut out other bits of footage and dialogue from those previews.

Invisible and transparent aren't mutually exclusive. Invisible means the object can't be seen, which implies that light can pass through (or around) the object. This would mean that they wouldn't have a shadow as a shadow is cast when light is blocked and reflected. If the light is going through or around the object, no light is blocked, so no shadow forms. Korey and Martin's complete lack of even basic knowledge on how light and shadows work is almost infuriating. But then, they're not too dissimilar to most people's understanding of it, so.... All that said, though, the movie is still ass. They didn't eviscerate it enough. XD

dvid22 ..What are you talkin bout? *******SPOILERS******** Ppl put too much focus on the stalking or her safety, she was never in physical danger bcus shes carrying his child. And its not him stalking her, thats just to shake her up before he really gets to work with the heavy gaslighting -- hacking her accounts and sending nasty emails to her loved ones 'from' her so they leave her, making ppl think she punched them when they look away. framing her for a murder he commits in front of a crowded room but everyone believes they saw her commit it. getting her locked up in prison psych for life. making everyone think she nuts, then convincing her she may be going nuts. Watching her struggle as he tightens the noose. Like trying to fight quicksand. To what end? Well besides petty revenge, its all leverage to get her to prefer her life with him. This is what psychopaths enjoy. Its like a kid pulling the wings off bugs for fun. Watching psycho play w someone its both cringe-inducing and fascinating.

@ chicostephenson Interesting that you say that because actual stealth camouflage was introduced in the Metal Gear Solid video game series especially with one particular character, Grey Fox, utilizing it within an exoskeleton. Unfortunately, this "outfit" was literally his embodiment because of his previous "death" but the stealth feature could be activated anytime. What's scarier is that he also wields a sword that could also turn invisible while he indestructibly deflects bullets at rapid speed with it. Just imagine the terror this movie would've had with that character!

Violet from Incredibles is a good invisible person. Doesn't hurt innocent people with her powers or use them to mess with people in either movie. To use a very niche example there's also the main girl from the novel Y: In the Shadows. The key thing seems to be if the invisible character is an extreme introvert. Then they'll probably just use it to hide better.

Its a thriller with sci-fi. I tend to think this type film makes you root for the victim/survivor more, than be distracted by the logic or whatever plot holes of the villain. The focus is on the survivor as (eventually) out-smarting a bad man who had to use outside support to carry out his evil.
