The Invisible Monster Republic Serial. 31.1.24. a new take on the Christ myth....made apparent by the masked avenger's insistence that he change his flock's monikers and dish out ad hoc insights regards alien rights and migrant law..... sassy women side kicks have never been a worry. tall. fear agenda, in the noes, at least, seems to be a myth so alleged hard nosed power dressers can make it seem. like. they had something to front up to.....

I enjoy them for what they are. If you accept the fact that they were made on an extremely low budget very quickly and accept the fact that things like the acting and writing styles were very different at that period of time then you can enjoy them much more I think.

@@AtomicAgePictures Yes indeed. I too enjoy them for what they are, a product of what you mentioned which contributes to what I consider corny based on todays standards and how far things have advanced, I enjoy what went on in the past and in my opinion most pictures produced from the early 30’s are far superior in acting than most movies made today. Thanks again for posting these and allowing us to sit back and enjoy these films for what they are.

The highway chase scene at 58:15 with the exploding truck was stock footage used in at least two other Republic serials: The Purple Monster Strikes (1945) and G-Men Never Forget (1948). If you watch the scene carefully, you will notice slight differences in the pursuing car, a 1940 Ford.

In regard to the hats staying on, Back in those days men wore "fitted" hats. These are non adjustable hats which fit specific head sizes. Thus they stay on better than todays adjustable hats. Also sometimes to help conceal the stunt mens the hats where were pinned/clipped on.

It wasn't just to conceal the stuntman's faces. It was also better if the hats just stayed on. That way they didn't have to keep track of who's hat came off and at what time from shot to shot.

@@leelarson107 it's a matter of time. Most serials were between 3 and 4 hours long in total. Yet they were still shot in 3 or 4 weeks! Most feature take 2 or 3 months, even back then. There just wasn't time to keep track of who's hat was on and who's wasn't while they were shooting.

CHARActer actors---young Lane Bradford and John Crawford. Johnny Rifleman Crawford came later, the kid was no relation. Bradford did dozens of westerns, always seemed to play a heavy. Was also in another serial Zombies of the Stratosphere w/Leonard Nimoy. Crawford did all kinds of movies and tv. Thin here and he looks like hell w/that moustache. Amusing sexism in this serial about what the gal can and can't do.Why is her purse not locked in the trunk? Great cars and always great fights. Usually it takes two thugs to get the good guy.
