It is June 2017, would you please have Dr. Hanson and other person again to talk about the current US politics and North Korea? I trust Dr. Hanson's opinion on everything I care to know. I have all his books and learned a lot from his wisdom.

@gotobedandtickler "What Muslim country has ever attack the usa, gb, and so on." Recently? The Islamic Republic of Iran when it overran our embassy (sovereign American territory, by the way, universally considered an act of war for centuries) and held Americans hostage for a few hundred days. Before that the Arab nations sided with the Nazis, and before that they were the Ottomans against the West, and before that it was the Barbary Corsairs. There is plenty of casus belli to go around.

That there is ethnic fragmentation within Iran is a chimera in terms of what affect this might have on the regime. However, the people are highly religiously, culturally and socially conservative. The people are also extremely racist. If the US would like to find out what the Iranians are really like on the race issue it should staff its Iranian agencies and consulates in Iran with African Americans and then get the appropriate feedback but expect a 100% personnel turnover in the process. They consider themselves to be the original Aryans, although Hitler and his mates might not agree. The Christian ethic of turning the other cheek, which is implicit, if not always acted upon in Western society, does not exist. They also have a dour introspective demeanor not leavened by a superciliousness if any of their ideas or beliefs are challenged. These factors are existential and are drivers in the daily life of the people. Therefore, the mullahs can drive the ignorant towards their fundamentalist agenda and to polling booths by the behaviorist nature of religious life. I pity the Western nuclear negotiators. The Iranians couldn't make a decision to save their lives. There is no Middle Class of significant size to make a difference politically. Most of the moneyed classes did a runner when the Shah got the Heave Ho. The Revolutionary Guard and their cohorts drive the voter towards their agenda by coercion. It is a closed society both in terms of government and character. E.G, back in the 1970.s none of the press agencies or resident Western diplomats predicted right up to the day of the revolution that overthrew the Shah, that it would happen and Iran then, could almost be mistaken for a progressive liberal country under the Shah with modern hotels, bars night clubs, restaurants. It also had vineyards and a passable red and white plonk. Although I never saw a camel in Tehran, evidence of their existence was indicated by a locally produced beer, Shams, which could only be produced by an incontinent camel with diabetes. The women, incidentally, are drop dead gorgeous and if they ever escape the oppression of the current regime they will conquer the world.

I'm not buying the argument that America would use a attack by Israel, on Iran, to distance themselves from Israel. Sure some people would use it against them, but just as many, if not more, would support it.
@hey_joe7069

It depends on which America you're talking about. If it happened today, under a Democrat party President, America would immediately condemn Israel and distance ourselves politically. If it happens a month from today, under Republicans, America will send more planes, bombs pop tarts and red bull, over to Tel Aviv.

Most military people are, because when they're fighting they're limited to their orders and when they retire their sources of inforation are fox-news and books or articles. Even Baer's knowledge is mostly related to Lebanon and Arabs. He speaks fluent arabic but no farsi. His accusation of Iran, musavi/karrubi of Lebanon bombing is only his assumption, no evidence. Musavi only participated in Iraq war and karrubi was mostly a judge.

US hostility towards Iran is more the result of Israel’s infernal lobbying activities in the US than any intrinsic Iranian misbehavior. Iran supports countries that Israel attacks or wages proxy wars on. Iran, for instance, has helped Syria oppose the armies of Wahabi terrorists we trained, armed & supported under CIA op Timber Sycamore. Former NSA director William Odom observed the idiocy of our hostility and policies towards Iran. He was correct. There are recent reports from Argentina that compromise the case against Iran for that famous bombing. US enthusiasm for Israel in spite of its conspicuous abuses of its influence on the US is absurd. Those guys caught celebrating 9/11 in New Jersey were not Iranian. LBJ was not sleeping with an Iranian agent and it was not Iran that attacked the USS Liberty. Speaking of terrorism, weigh the instances where Iran is the suspect versus the cases where we now know Israel staged false-flag attacks on the US. Which country is the greater danger? What is to be done? Eject Israeli influence on US foreign policy and stop serving Israelis as if we are their whores and hitmen. Frankly, Iran with a few nukes is far less a threat to the US than Israel is. No Iranian PM brags about controlling the US government but this is common among Israeli leaders in unguarded moments. And Iran is not 1% the espionage threat to the US that Israel is. Not just espionage but the wholesale theft of the enriched nuclear materials - which Israel was doing during the Kennedy years! If any country in the mideast deserves withering sanctions it is Israel. No one else in the world bombs trapped, innocent and defenseless civilians without justification like Israel does. And if there is a truly dangerous cult it is the cult of Zionism which blinds Americans to any evil done by Israel even when that evil is directed by Israel at the USA. THAT is a real & present danger that is responsible for the US waging decades of bogus wars in the mideast at US expense and to the exclusive benefit of Israel. Israel as a Democracy is a laugh. Does anyone think Palestinians vote to bomb themselves? Is any other democracy as officially and rigorously racist as Israel? Speaking of “existential threats”, why doesn’t US media ever bring up ben Gurion’s statements to JFK as possibly relevant to JFK’s assassination? When one looks at the U-turn in US policy towards Israel between the JFK and LBJ administration, it looks like Israel had everything to gain and that they gained it all - the US was reduced to a slave of Israel - so thoroughly that they got away with attacking our ship and murdering our sailors.

Togo is a byword for corruption. Regarding Saddam, search Google on Halabja in Northern Iraq, or Anfal campaign, there are even KZbin clips for the hard of thinking. There again Africa is hardly a place of democratic values, didn't Faure Gnassingbé win dis
