My whole life, the media has demonized Iraq, but I wanted to know if there was a different narrative.. the Iraq the media won't show you on TV every night. As a kurd, watching this video was so pleasant to see someone respect our culture like this. Kurdish people are so generous because we don’t often get tourists visiting so it means a lot you choosing to visit. So much history engrained and a nation that faces oppression from neighbouring countries to this day but in light of that Kurds still represent positivity and you really acknowledged that so thank you sincerely. I don’t live in kurdistan but miss it and watching this I’m filled with nostalgia and longing. Glad I found your channel, will follow

One point of clarification is that Hawler (Erbil) is the capital of South Kurdistan however the capital of Greater Kurdistan is Amed (Diyarbakir) located in Northern Kurdistan. By the way there will be a lot of haters that get triggered by just saying or writing Kurdistan and the best thing to do is ignore those haters as I have my whole life. Hope you enjoyed my city in Kurdistan, as a historical fact Kurdistan area Anatolia , ancient Mesopotamia area is where latin people and southern Caucasian race came from originally , if you dig down linguistic evidence you can see the roots of proto Indo European languages family roots , for example I write English and Kurdish word next to it , brother : brader, egg : hekk, two: du, new : nwe, chance : shance, Shame : shar, murder : murd …etc manu many other words are still rooted from same language tree , Kurdish hasn’t moved to west after domesticating horses like the rest of Caucasian mountains inhabitants back days , so Kurdish language is closer to proto Indo European mother language compared to Latin languages and Germanic family also which English language belong to

Yea there are several! Rawanduz is a feasible day trip, so is Mar Mattai. But you need a car and driver in Kurdistan, almost no public transport

There are 25 million Kurds in North Kurdistan (Turkey) alone. So the total is over 45 million people. Also Kurds are the ancient Mesopotamians. They are indigenous to Mesopotamia as recorded historically and recent DNA testing. Semitic tribes arrived in the region 3500-4000 years ago. Before them it was inhabited by Sumerians and Gutis (ancestors of the Kurds).
