The last line from Kevins sons… it broke me. I loved this film.

I haven’t seen it yet, but if he says, I had 5 brothers and now I’m not even a brother.” He said that in real life as well. Although im sure they changed it to 4 because they didn’t have Chris in the movie

Just a note when Zac Efron tells the young boys about how he was once a brother but he wasn't one anymore, was a paraphrased quote from the real Kevin VonErich he said "I was once the oldest brother and now I am not even a brother."

I came across that in my research. Heartbreaking stuff.

I’m vaguely familiar with the family’s history but the films focus on brotherhood and dealing with stunted emotional development while navigating stages of superstardom sounds surprisingly relatable especially for males struggling to communicate their feelings and insecurities. Thank You, as always, for your superb analysis Mason!

This was the era of World Class Championship Wrestling. This was the territory of Fritz Von Erich and his sons. This was the era of Harley Race, Ric Flair, Bruiser Brody, Jerry Lawler, Kamala, Tommy Rich, The Missing Link and The Fabulous Freebirds. Rest in Peace Texas Tornado. The Iron Claw film shows the hardships and tragedies of the Von Erich family. The film needed two more music montages in the first 45 minutes of the movie since the story dragged at the beginning, but it then picked up for the rest of the film. The only acting weak link in the film came from the actor who portrayed Ric Flair who was atrocious in the role. The next pro wrestling family that deserves a film is the Hart family from Canada. After all, Bret Hart has endured emotional heartbreak from losing those closest around him like Brian Pillman, The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith, Jim Neidhart, his brother Owen Hart and very good friends like Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect. Bret was also screwed out of the World Title, went through a bad divorce and was retired by a bad kick from Bill Goldberg. This is during the era of World Class Championship Wrestling. This is the territory of Fritz Von Erich and his sons. This is the era of Harley Race, Ric Flair, Bruiser Brody, Jerry Lawler, Kamala, The Missing Link and The Fabulous Freebirds. Rest in Peace Texas Tornado. The Iron Claw film shows the hardships and tragedies of the Von Erich family.

Even if they were dysfunctional In alot of ways you don’t often see a depiction in films anymore of familial obligation and tradition, honor thy mother and father and what it means to be a true brother, This was a absolutely beautiful film. They are still legends in Texas and they didn’t junk it up with woke crap except at the end they touch on a “it’s ok for men to cry masculinity is toxic” type deal but this movie is really about brotherhood and tradition and we need more of that in the culture. God bless the Von Erich’s and God bless Texas

I used to love the Wrestler with Mickey Rourke and considered it the best wrestling movie ever but this movie destroyed it.
