I have a question about taxes as an Amazon reviewer. I was recently invited to join their Vine program at the silver tier level. You get to choose up to 3 products per day up to $100. They send you a 1099K form for taxes. I understand that everything over $600 value per year total is taxed as income tax, however there seems to be some confusion over whether you have an additional "self employee" tax or whether you can claim it as a hobby and reduce the total taxable amount to just your individual tax bracket amount for the income tax. For further clarification, we have to hold onto anything we receive under the program for at least 6 months before we can re-sell it, donate it or gift it.

The United States is the District of Colombia. You contract with the United States with a 1040. There's no law saying you have to pay taxes. I am not an employee per USC 26 3401(c), I do not have an employer per USC 26 3401(d), I work for a private sector company, not the United States, and I do not domicile in the United States, I domicile in my state where I work. So, show me the law.

This is an internet falsehood. The IRS laws and regulations, which have the POWER of laws, clearly require you to pay the tax amounts that you owe. This idea that you do not have to pay taxes are on a shelf right next to the flat earth and the no moon landing ideas.
