If you want to have more structural integrity, I would place some corewood over your iron beams. Having core wood supported by iron beams will make your structures much more stable and not break like inside your dock area. Love the build! Working on an island base myself :)

I will have to try that out and see how it goes. I really need to finish building my island base but I can't stop building my farm one at the moment.

could use an cage mesh from side to to sod and make sure main start piece is in ground (blue)....... that will support your entire structure

Kills, if you're gonna use iron beams, you've gotta anchor them into the ground first! Those iron beams you've got supporting the stone floor/roof, the ends need to be attached to vertical iron beams that are touching the bare earth, not a stone slab! The beauty of using iron beams is that stone can be placed over them, hiding them! It's gonna be a pain in the arse anchoring the horizontal beams to properly anchored vertical beams, but your OCD will help you do it! 😂😂😂

Exactly. Stability is essentially a measure of how far a piece is from being grounded in the earth. The iron beams need to start vertical from the sides of the dockyard and then run across the top of the dock . . . opposite to how they currently run the length of the ceiling. You want to keep the spans as short as possible (up the sides and over).

I will have to have a play around with the area to get them beams in. I'm sure I will sort something out.

@trengilly01 thnx mate, I was gonna mention that, but it seemed like it'd be too much for an intro to iron beams! 😁😁😁

When building you have to wait a little longer for the stability of the object to be updated. When you place an object it's automatically registered as an anchored piece which is why it's blue when you place it (unless it's touching the ground bc it will always be blue on the ground). After a second it updates and shows green and then depending on where in the structure it's placed it eventually calculates the whole stability. The larger a structure is the longer it takes for the algorithm to calculate the stability of a piece. hance why it took like a whole minute for the stone pieces to break when you came back to them.

also idk if it's on purpose but there's a yellow line at the bottom of your recording. Not sure if it's a software thing or what but just thought you should be aware
@Kills4ThrillsGaming5 ай бұрын
Oh this makes sense then. That explains why it took some time to pop. Thank you for letting me know this. The yellow bar is my exp bar from a mod. I've been trying to turn it off but can't see the option for it yet.

Kills, you're absolutely in your element in this game. I've fallen in love with the building as you clearly have. What you've created is so impressive. Considering where you were two weeks ago. Hats off to you mate, you've been grinding your ass off. You're a talented man.

I seem to have got a good understanding of the game really fast. There's so much you can do with the building in this game that every time I build something I learn something new.

Looks great, but use the cultivator to add grass to the non-pathed dirt areas. Simple way to significantly improve the aesthetics. Green looks better than brown.

I need to do that but decided not to at the moment as I'm going to be changing things around.

I just love the building in it. I think all the weather sounds help as well because the storms sound amazing

I agree this is the one game, where you actually get a kick feeling strong, all other games everyone level up together and everything keeps being a struggle. Smacking the troll and swinging him around is just the best feeling 😂. The building is great but you always need more materials, I don't know if you get enough from the greydwarf farm, but you can plant trees, you know... for cutting down😊. Am loving this series, played a few years ago but only got to kill 4th boss and play around in the Plains. Mistlands and Ashlands had not come out yet. But thanks to you I now started a new game.

I love feeling strong and killing everything that was a nightmare before haha. I greydwarf farm is OK for stuff as I can afk and do other things while getting free loot. The problem with planting trees on the island is I have no room. I think I will need to find a place that's flat and open to do it.

FYI when you are on a moving boat jumping off of it automatically stops the boat where you want it. It will keep drifting a little bit if you stay on the boat even at full stop
@Kills4ThrillsGaming5 ай бұрын
Ah ok, I thought just standing on it would stop it. I didn't realise that I had to fully get off the boat.

The build is looking fantastic, island builds are heavy on resources though. @robf6389 comments make sense, the build is not grounded enough for the stability you want. If you look at the downstairs dock area and think of a box, add some iron beams in to the ground and running up each corner of the imaginary box, to meet up with the iron beams already in place above, this will add a lot of stability. As the water is shallow down there (when it's calm) it shouldn't be too hard to do (fingers crossed).
@Kills4ThrillsGaming5 ай бұрын
Yeah I will have to add more beams to it and connect it to the ground. I'm sure I can sort something out.
