Personally, I think Turo is the best app ever, as it's allowed me to rent 12 super-dope cars and review them on my channel. Sure, all the German cars have a check-engine light, the WRX STI broke completely, and the BMW i8 had a chunk out of the tire... But still gave me incredible experiences for CHEAP! Plus, I did damage a Camaro once, and gave them 100 cash, called it good!

Yup, 100%. While I don't review cars, I enjoy renting fancy cars like that just to experience them for a weekend....and they're $500 for the weekend from Turo, and $5000 for the weekend from an exotic rental place. It's super easy for me to justify and I really don't care if the CEL is on or the low pressure warning light won't go out or whatever. As long as it runs good, drives good, and looks good at 20ft away? If it's all that + cheap? I'm fucking happy. . Shit, I rented the C8 back in July for like $200/day with like 1500 miles on it in absolutely mint condition, how much would that shit have cost from an exotic rental?

The platform is not made to serve movie sets that need a pristine show car. This should be 100% expected from a service that lets people rent their own car to strangers. It's unfair to expect cars to be perfect. Maybe try getting connections with local dealerships for temporary rentals on movies. It's certainly not Turo's fault or the car owner's fault.

some russians from Lauderdale tried to screwed me over with turo on a complete crap car that wasn't repaired in the slightest. they said they found damage that wasn't there, and their body shop had to paint the entire door. no way this car ever was getting new paint. they were just scamming people out of money

Just rented a 2019 car off Turo it had low miles and ran roughly the renter had 1/2 dozen late model rentals all looked good from pics and 20ft away BE VERY CAREFUL WITH TURO TAKE TONS OF PIC VIDEOS AND DOCUMENT EVERYTHING Mr Spaghetti I love the show

I Kind of the same experience found a range on turo I liked figured get that while cars in the shop and given not many ranges on turo at the time I had go out my way to go get it. The guy shows up and was nothing like the pictures all rims messed up, scratched up dents you name it. Like he just posted the pictures of it new at the dealer. Later I find another one and with no problems, it was well taken care of. Was interesting they told me when dropping it off they do turo for 2-3 mouths and its paid for their car for the rest of the year then trade it in.

Only used Turo once in Tampa when I was going to cleetus and cars, got a 2016 Jetta and didn’t have any issues although this was definitely her personal car, maybe it’s a New England issue?

I had zip car for about a year, same thing get the car and it just smelled like weed and was always dirty. But I will say they atleast reimburse me when I would wash it. Buy washer fluid and even wipers lol. I would cheat them and use a cash back or rewards points card.

Just as an FYI... things like wheels and such aren't reimbursed to the host. Turo may and likely does collect the funds from the guest, but they do NOT turn it over to the host most of the time. They just pocket it. The host gets screwed most times when dealing with Turo claims.

I got a nice fleet of 8 cars that's been profitable for the last 2 years. We do get the money for curbing wheels but wheels are curbed so often that you literally end up changing wheels every other week because people don't know how to park without hitting the curb. All my cars have been in accidents or are rebuilt title but they are in great condition and where fixed properly and you wouldn't be able to tell. Do they have imperfections ? Of course they do but I'm not renting to majority car enthusiast or rich people like you Rob. I find enthusiast tear up enthusiast cars. I had 2 Mustang GT's and a 2014 stingray in my fleet and they always came back with bald tires or a engine light because they did something stupid with it. If the renter didn't have like the condition of my car they hold the right to cancel right there and then with no cancelation fee but I am a car enthusiast so I keep my cars in great shape but the wheel curbing I've had to accept I have to take on the chin.

Hosts hardly ever get paid out for wheel scratches on Turo because of the deductible on the protection plan. I usually try to get $50 off a customer for the scratches and put it towards refinishing the wheels when it's time for new tires. But these are $100/day rental cars that get used by ordinary people and worse, so curb rash is kind of a given. It doesn't make sense to spend $300+ on a new wheel every time someone accidentally hits a curb. You'd get cosmetically imperfect cars if you rented a cheapy car at Hertz too. Rob charges like $1000/day for a car that would go for $250/day on Turo, so obviously he can afford to have his cars perfect all the time. Turo hosts have to cut some corners to make up for the lower revenue and the inability to charge for loss of use, diminished value, damage that Turo considers "wear and tear", or damage that's not documented like burn marks to areas of seats without clear pre-trip photos. If you're trying to rent a car for a movie shoot, you should let the host know and ask about the car's condition. Or rent on DriveShare by Hagerty, or some other site that caters to car lovers and not drug dealers. It should be self-evident that a black on black Mercedes listed on Turo will reek of weed and be smashed up. Rob should be familiar with the type of customers who rent those cars, he serves them too. Those lips are backordered on Amazon and EBay, take months to get if you want the aftermarket ones. Or you can lose money each time by paying for a new one at the dealer and getting reimbursed less by Turo thanks to the deductible.

I have tried to rent through turo 4 times. Always been trash. I tried to rent a Model S P100D, had like 110k miles and looked like a tornado hit it. WRX STI for a winter road trip? Bald tires and according to the sticker/odometer 3k miles overdue for an oil change. I'll never try again.

I've yet to have an issue with Turo mainly because I'm an enthusiast and I know what I'm looking at. When my wife and I went to Denver a few months ago Hertz wanted $200 a day for a Nissan Versa without taxes and fees. Turo gave me the opportunity to grab a nice 2017 ES350 for less than $50 dollars a day that drove perfect. Now, we can complain all day about Lexus and their lack of investment in their infotainment systems and electronics but I'd take any ES before I'd buy into an overpriced Versa.
