I was IT inside the Air Force. It wasn’t my full-time job because I was actually a radio technician, but I got trained and I would fix computer and network problems when I wasn’t busy doing other things so I didn’t get the full environment, but they worked in the same squad as me. We were completely full of ourselves when the Internet started and everyone depended on us.

The only time I really dealt with the IT crowd was in staff meetings when all of the branches were around. I would handle the customers that had telephone, radio, or airfield system problems, and there was another branch that did the data infrastructure

I love this show. Terrific cast, even through changes, great and deep writing, I think I’ve watched the whole of the series through at least 6 times now. Now I AM a 60 year-old IT nerd (“Apple Registered Consultant” lol) so that may have something to do with it.

America tried to re-make it. There is a pilot floating around somewhere - featuring Richard, and just him, from the original cast, for some reason! And it is absolutely atrocious and tonally off, even though the script is WORD-FOR-WORD of what I could manage to sit through. Not a drop of the original warmth, joy and sincerity.
