I think she's a genius, despite people reducing her for her looks. Yes, she's incredibly beautiful, no one can deny that. But this industry is FULL of beautiful people. If being beautiful was the only thing that mattered, 95% of idols would be having her level of success but they don't. She is a genius because she knows exactly how to attract both fans and haters. She knows exactly how to act, walk, talk, smile, pose to make people talk about her non stop. Her eating a strawberry broke the internet for godssake. Every little thing she does is scrutinized to an insane degree. Her bowing or not bowing, her doing a catchy little dance, her having to stand in the center when posing with her group so people think she's favored, no matter what it is, its not that serious but everyone makes it a huge deal. That's what being an 'it girl' is. She's a marketing genius and a trendsetter. Not to mention, she was the one who suggested Love Dive be there title track, which lead to one of the most iconic comebacks of a 4th gen group. She seems like an incredibly well put together person who never flinches from any criticism people throw her way. She works hella hard and this is one of those cases where even Korea defends her against International fans. People say it's only for looks that she's famous. I say she uses everything at her disposal. She elevates the quality of her group so much and she pushes her own company to put in more effort towards her group. Down to the quality of songs, theme, fashion. Not to mention how she's like the 4th gen idol with by far the most brand deals. Starship genuinely seems like they care about this group and alot of it is because Wonyoung pushes them to succeed. Do you honestly think Starship would gaf about this group without her and Yujin? Most likely not. And again, it's not because she's pretty. It's because she's a once in a generation type of idol. An idol that people hate/love but will never forget.

I meant, look at how she got the same job repeatedly? That's a proof that she did a great job that ppl in the industry want to work with her again and again, this is a cruel industry where an idol can be easily replaced by the insiders. wonyoung is one of the strongest idols i've ever seen. i saw this girl debuting back in 2018 when she was announced as izone's center and since then the hate she's been suffering is astronomical (mind you she was 14). when she debuted in ive the hate got even worse and for the most baseless reasons. what i find extremely admirable about wonyoung is that she has got to a point that her personality became so strong that she will NOT stop acting cute just because you don't like it, she will not force herself to eat just because you tell her to (even though i can understand some people's genuine worry) and etc. because if we're getting real honest here, majority of people hate her because she's pretty and successful and they feel threatened by that so they want the hate to get to her asap and feel even angrier when they see her not reacting to it at all. im so glad that she realizes that this tells so much more about the haters than herself... about the lipsync scandal, for example, the criticism is understandable. but i've seen people sending her d**th threats and sending hate to her just because she's acting cute?? aegyo is just PURE fanservice and even if you hate her you need to admit she's one of the most professional idols on the game. some fans just love it yk. so PLEASE, pay respect to her name because you probably wouldnt handle 10% of what she has been through since she was a CHILD. i am proud of you, wonyoung

Tbh I used to be like wonyoung between the ages of 11-16. Since I hit puberty early (lol), I was often told I was really pretty. I was super confident, happy within myself, and never let other people’s opinions of me affect me at all. I also loved dancing and singing so I’d literally let myself FLOW with happiness and confidence everytime I did. People used to imply that I was cocky or self obsessed or cringe and I was also someone who stood my ground a lot and always defended myself because no one else did. Because of this people often gaslighted me and told me I’d never get anywhere in life with my “overconfidence” or attitude.(especially my own sister) Obviously being around that age I had attitude issues too bc I was literally growing?? It’s normal but no one treated me like I was just a growing teenager who was still learning. I’d be punished so badly (just like wonyoung is) for saying the wrong thing without knowing, or doing something by mistake or being straight up, so I started to think there was something wrong w me. Even my friends were lowkey always hating on me and making fun of me and roasting me and then gaslighting me when I would call them out for it. And under every single one of my pictures they’d roast me and pick out my flaws (like literally under posts I’d post on Instagram) and then play it off and say I couldn’t take a joke, to the point where I’d delete my photos because I thought they were ugly afterwards. Then around that time between like late 16-17 I started to become really insecure because I also lost a lot of my social life and my house life was rlly depressing too. I even started a KZbin channel but I became so self conscious that while I edited my videos I cut out anything that might’ve been cringe, weird, self obsessed etc. I’m 20 now and ever since then I’ve just been extremely insecure, self concious, depressed, have extreme anxiety issues and I NEVER do anything that might disappoint or make someone else “upset” because it’s the “safe” way to go and I just hate all that confrontation I always had to do to stick up for myself. Please don’t hate on wonyoung. Don’t turn her into someone like this. It’s not fair, she’s not doing anything wrong and a HUGE portion of her life could be wasted in depression, anxiety and self consciousness bc of how ppl treated her. I know she says she doesn’t get phased but even I was like that and it hit me all later on and I’m still suffering from it. I care about how I look from every angle, how I sound, how I talk just so I can appear more likeable and less “self obsessed” wtv that even means and I realised I was never doing anything wrong,I was just being myself and other ppl had a problem with it

Ok, a bit personal confession. When I met Wonyoung (2020), I was very jealous of her. I'm the same age as her and seeing everything she achieved at such a young age made me feel bad about myself. I started throwing hate at her. To make matters worse, I had friends who liked IZ*one, and they were talking about Wonyoung all the time. I couldn't see her or hear her name. I hated her with all my being. Then, I started thinking: instead of being jealous, why don't I focus on achieving my achievements? I've been to see IZONE and IVE perform live a few times in my life. Her profesionalism on stage is outstanding and she is literally born to be an idol. Subsequently I've also seen her up close and also had the pleasure to meet her once. She is incredibly sweet. She seems to have a soft heart. Most people might not understand this coming from an outside perspective and I often see her (and many other idols tbh) garner critisism based on this face value perception.
