My IWC Pilot's Chronograph 41 with the blue dial and metal band never leaves my wrist. I use the chronograph frequently for multiple purposes. The Portugieser Automatic 40 or 42 are on my short list for more formal occasions.

I have an IWC Pilot's Chronograph 41 with the racing green dial. Have the leather strap and the green rubber strap too. It is absolutely killer and gets the most compliments than any other watch from my collection. They are definitely the king of green dials in my opinion. Were I to get another IWC, it'd have the be the green portugieser for sure.

I have an Aquatimer and love it. I bought it as a sporty addition to a Zenith chronograph I had bought, and have only grown to like it more since owning it. A Pilot is on the very short list.

Enjoy watching your videos, been at least a year I believe. I think we have similar taste in watches, I love my Omega’s which includes a planet ocean and Aqua Terra, and my IWC Pilot Chronograph. I’ve recently have fallen in love with a new Breitling Chronomat, maybe someday you can review? I don’t have the Omega speedy yet, only thing holding be back is that I feel I already have too many chronos.

Maybe chronos are your thing. Nothing wrong with that. I do need more time with Breitling.

Great watch but for a third of the price id rather have the Longines Master Collection 190th Anniversary. I own the small seconds salmon dial and its gorgeous.

Why doesn’t IWC offer Chronometer Certified watches? Seems for the money every model should be.

The standard is 0 to +7s although not advertised. My experience is they are more accurate than my Omega Master Chronometer.

Just my opinion, but I’d say the 42mm ones wear a tad big on your wrist, and a bit bulky. Personally prefer the 40mm salmon dial - less busy & just looks class.

I love the dials, but do the numerals look too small?
@KeepingWatchUK4 ай бұрын
Yeh I agree & have thought the same thing. Almost a bit too close to edge of dial too somehow, right, leaving too much blank space on dial. Should be larger or more inset.

Overall, I struggle with the IWC brand. I just don’t know what it stands for. Nice enough watches, but then there are plenty of those at all price points. So why choose IWC? The international watch company sounds corporate generic speak.
@TheEnglishWatch4 ай бұрын
Well, as it was founded in 1868 by an American maybe it was back in the day. Rolex is only called Rolex through some focus group activity to ensure it couldn’t be pronounced incorrectly. IWC produced watches for land and air during war time on both sides and have the Portugieser from 1939. Lots of history to get into if that’s your thing.

I’ll do some moans and niggles shall I? Have to disagree on the 40mm small seconds - 49mm lug-to-lug isn’t wearable for most wrists - you need a flat or quite chunky wrist for that to be properly comfortable. And getting on for 52mm lug-to-lug on the chrono is quite unnecessary negating the relative thinness of 13mm, which is also slab-sided compared to the old model. Why??? These watches suffer in two other key ways: IWC’s relatively weak brand equity and the somewhat generic dial design, which eg Longines, Tudor’s 1926, even some Federique Constant models approximate to for considerably less money. So yeah, they’re too expensive also.
@TheEnglishWatch4 ай бұрын
Interesting perspective. I have a flat wrist so maybe just works for me. Also, these fit into a collection that offers size options. Sometimes big is best. Regards the comparison to Longines, etc in my opinion there’s no contest, but each to their own. Brand equity? Not everything is measured in residuals and value is hard to quantify. Went to a Maserati launch event last night. Great cars if a little troublesome. Shocking depreciation, but they still have a strong following. It’s just magic sauce that some either like or not. I only went for the free drinks 😜.

IWC has got nice designs and nice watches. The level of finishing is however well below the expected. Have a look when you have a chance how the polishing looks like. It is a very poor job ending up in slightly dull surfaces in places not obviously checked- bezels. A disappointment overall.

The new Ingenuier is NOT “Genta” designed. This is marketing BS.
