Corpsing? It's because actors who are playing corpses would start giggling at jokes and it ruins the scene because they're meant to be dead.

We had a theater show on once with a corpse in it that had to be on stage for the entire show. It was also a comedy show. Mostly actually about the fact there is a dead person there the entire time that nobody else in the production ever mentions or references directly the entire time. The entire purpose of the corpse being there is purely so the rest of the cast can attempt to make the corpse laugh or move without ever directly mentioning or interacting with it in any way.

My favorite corpsing moment would have to be from Tim Conway. There's a really good one in the Carol Burnett Show where Tim Conway and Harvey Korman are doing a dentist skit, and Tim Conway (the dentist) keeps accidentally injecting himself with the regional anesthesia, which causes the parts of the body he injected to go numb. The best one, however, is from either "Mama's Family" or "The Carol Burnett Show" where Tim Conway is telling this story about a dwarf performer in the circus and a pair of elephant twins who were conjoined at the end of their trunks. By the end of the story, at which point most of the other cast members are struggling really hard to not crack up, one of the cast members says (in character) "Did he finally shut the fuck up?" At which point, everyone is on the ground literally rolling with laughter. It's great.

I loved watching Scrubs, but I think it really started going downhill the last couple of seasons. By then a lot of the jokes and plot points were just being recycled, and the whole idea of a retired Bob Kelso constantly hanging out in the hospital coffee shop was just bad. The writers should've written some funny scenerios for Bob to get into outside of the hospital. I think that would've helped keep the show a little fresher.
