Hollywood Town Hall is one of the insanely greatest albums ever. Impossible just how many great songs can be from one album. Clouds, Settled Down, Sister Cry, Waiting, Martin's Song, on and on...

great, great reviews, I recently have discovered this band, and I am just blown away by the song writing, melodies, harmonies, a no frills tight band, and I'm frankly baffled it took me this long to dig deep into them, I'm going to see them in two weeks for the first time, gonna be great.

The Jayhawks are so fantastic! Blue is such a masterpiece. David Letterman absolutely loved them and had them on many times..

Adore The Jayhawks. Sound Of Lies has always been my favourite. “Dying On The Vine” is massive. The new one “xoxo” runs it pretty close. Greetings from the UK. Great video, thanks

Hi Chris, you know, there is something about laying on the couch in the dark listening to music. That is one of my favorite and therapeutic things to do. You are definitely not alone. Some of my friends question my sanity and wonder why. I think if you have to explain it's really not worth the trouble. They will never get "it." As always, enjoyable listening to your thoughts. I think I can speak for all when I say thank-you very much for sharing. John

I totally agree. Back Roads and Abandoned Motels is a masterpiece. An album in its true sense. A comprehensive story made up of mysterious places, painful experiences, unforgettable experiences, heavy emotions, hope, longing... An album that can be listened to continuously, completely over and over again without having to skip weak elements. Yet another real work of art from this imaginative band, who have delivered over so many decades. Quality does not die. Big words. And quite simply. The Jayhawks always impress me.

Me too. Saw them play in front of 100,000 in Grant Park in Chicago for that album and was hooked ever since.

One artist who is part of the Jayhawks has shown her excellence so many times and has gotten better though the years and that is Karen Grotberg. She was great in the Sound of Lies but really has come to shine on XOXO with Ruby and Across My Field.
@TheLongCut12 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more. Karen is awesome!

Karen has proven, with her tasteful piano, keyboard stylings, and beautiful vocal harmonies (now lead) that unlike Mark Olsen, she is indispensable to the glorious sound of The Jayhawks.
@donperisho21842 жыл бұрын
I agree that the Sound of Lies is a great album possibly the best. The early stuff with Mark Olsen is good but i like the newer records better. Mockingbird is poor with little to love except Tiny Arrows. I greatly disagree about Paging Mr Proust, love Leaving the Monsters but there are so many great tunes on this album its a must have for me.

@The Long Cut - I was at a restaurant and they were playing a good bunch of 90s hits in the background and had played the song "Blue". And I was like, "dang! how could my brain forget about the Jayhawks in my 'head tunes' 😕". I went onto KZbin to reminisce on the band when I came across your video here. Thanks for reminding me that this band is way more than a couple of hits! I'm checking out your album recommendations at the moment and noticing some similarities with their songs and the band 'Blue Rodeo'. Do you have any opinions on Blue Rodeo?

Blue Earth is a collection of demos that works very well. Don Heffington passed away recently.

Very much agree with your reviews here. I think that 2018 release in some spots is their finest. I always get excited when they announce a new record and think this will be the one. The amazing thing is (and it’s in their songs) though tough times they keep going. Their songs often bring tears to my eyes. Rainy day music for sure.

Mark Olson left in 1995, because his then girlfriend who became his wife, Victoria Williams, was diagnosed with MS. She was the inspiration for the Jayhawks song "Miss Williams Guitar"

Versions of Two Angels and Martin’s Song are much better on Blue Earth. Mark Olson told me that HTH was a bit stiff. Jayhawks current music has no edge without Olson.
