I'm surprised I did not get a Jenner earlier. The Jenner is a favorite Mech of the Draconis Combine. You'd think they'd be for sale at every industrial hub!

I actually was inspired (sort of stole) inspiration from here and have about 4 javelins rotating in my crew, they're an awesome light mech even for the ai. I pilot a centurion or phoenix hawk but definitely considering hooking a jenner up now (haven't had any luck salvaging firestarter yet)

Firestarter is the bane of heavy mechs. I enjoyed piloting it in megamek.

@@SheedRanko Likewise mate. You know what Mechwarriors series are lacking?....glorious melee combat! I remember watching Robot Jox when mechs going to town with each other. That's what got me into battletech.

I believe a Black Knight or a Grashopper would love those short burst lasers. I liked my colors, I also believe that painting pattern might look better as I evolve into wider non humanoid mechs. Also Bandith the Urban mech looks amazing.

I have to tinker with the color gradient so each color is stands out more. The bottom and top are distinguishable, but the middle color isn't except up close.

Not for the faint of heart especially those first few missions! Welcome aboard! I've spent most of my life playing BattleTech and MechWarrior games. I think the only stage where I stopped playing was that huge gap between MW4 and MW5 when FASA went out of business. I still came back to MW4 typically once a year though.

@@GitGudFox thank you for the reply my late grandfather engrained my love of Battletech when I played the tabletop version and I've not really played since he passed have some of his old minis that he painted with metal paints. Thank you for re-igninitng my love once again. Keep doing what you're doing.

Love both the Jenner and the Firestarter, i've made a build in mwo for the firestarter called the dual ac20, because i had 8 medium lasers in it. Pretty fun. Also i've got an atlas now in mw5. Enemies question their very existance now

I know some people consider the medium laser the perfect weapon.

@@GitGudFox Considering the armament you can mount on a firestarter in MWO and how weapons perform there you don't have many choices, either small pulse lasers or medium lasers, machine guns deal pitiful amounts of damage and flamers deal only heat damage which is cool but in the current state of the game you need to apply hit and run tactics more than brawling. But that's MWO, i like mw5 more because i feel like i'm able to be a mechwarrior.

I don't think there are any Mechs that I hate. I hang onto my good Light Mechs in case I fall back to lower reputation missions in the campaign.

I think I moved to quickly into difficulties where there were mainly medium and heavier mechs and found the jenner very hard to use. But it seems to absolutely make a mess of those light mechs for sure!

I always play the game at a pretty easy going pace. To me, it's kind of like Civilization. I like to play in the ancient era with my rocks and sticks, in the classic era with my iron swords, the medieval era with my crossbows and knights, and so forth. I don't like to blow past each Mech weight level and not get to experience each stage of the game.

@@GitGudFox yeah I think I didn't understand that during my current first play through. I just kept chasing the story missions which kept leading me further and further away from where I started lol. I'll have to try a rags to riches like your series once I've got a proper handle on the game to get a real feel for what the light mechs are all about!

You can still be really profitable with light Mechs too. Once you build up your reputation with the local super power for the +5 negotiation points, you can rake in a TON of money and salvage while suffering minimal damage. This is increased even farther when you consider you'll likely be fielding high performance light Mechs with good weapons. I think light Mechs are useful to about missions where 200 tons drop weight is normal. They are still useful here if you choose to launch in a larger Mech than 50 tons, maybe you launch in a 60-75-ton Mech, so your allies have to use smaller Mechs to compensate. Having a few light Mechs around lets you fiddle with the dropweight jigsaw puzzle as well, so don't just have all 35 tons Mechs for example. Keep a few of the good ones at several weight levels and several roles, and keep an eye on cruising speeds so your lance stays together. The Panther and UrbanMech are rather slow.

@@GitGudFox yeah I have hit the drop weight conundrum big time my lightest mech is a 45 ton phoenix hawk and a 50 ton hunchback all the rest are 65-95 tons. Which means if I'm doing multiple contracts in means I nearly always lose 10 or 15 ton. I also have hit the issue that I'm a hero for Davion but everyone that I've discovered except marik hates me now lol. And now I'm out of Davion territory and getting crap contracts so trying to make friends with people now

That's another benefit to going slower. I can manage my reputation very easily since I spend time collecting the Mechs for the show. Basically, I can afford to do stuff to "wedge" my reputation up with 2 rival factions. Like I can do missions for the Lyran Commonwealth that might harm the Combine, then bash independents and the periphery for the Combine to rebuild them back up and have them both positive.

If you start using short bust lasers a lot the normal feels like takes a decade to complete the fire cycle And for the recovery if your dropship is near and the box is near it dropship will recover it

I like the Locust 3V have better armor twin M guns and twin M lazers

@@GitGudFox jenner D is the next step up. I like having a gang of bird mechs with my centurion. I also have a wolverine and two shadow hawks. 3 jenner D and 2 Locusts

I dont thik you can show all light mech and then move to medium At least in my game the raven and wolfhound were found only in mid game where i had 4 heavy mechs And by lore raven and wolfhound will take a long time to develop and to be found on battle fied (news)

The Flea is the only one on the list I intend to do. My plan automatically excludes anything that hasn't been invented yet.

That said, the Flea seems pretty rare in this conflict zone, so I am not really going out of my way to farm for one, but I'll definitely dedicate the salvage towards it if I get lucky or buy it out of the market place.
