No need to feel ashamed, be proud that you are sticking up for your principals, and not just blindly supporting one political party just because it's what you have previously done. Most media outlets now, with the Liberal government subsidies have essentially become propaganda arms of the Liberal Party of Canada. Which as a result, has made it hard for Canadians to see through that bias with them all peddling the same narratives. It was bad enough before, especially with the government funded CBC... but now it is much worse. It's also that much more obvious and Canadians are being less fooled. It's nice to see Pierre's unequivocal support of Israel, which is the only real democracy in that region. Pierre Poilievre will make an amazing Prime Minister of Canada, and if he does a good enough job he might even end up being PM as long as Stephen Harper was or possibly even longer :) The main thing is, though, recovering Canada from these 9 years of Hell, including returning our national anthem to 'in all thy sons command' instead of the woke and 'inclusive' 'in all of us command.' He did that VERY quietly back in 2016-17 or so. I have been paying attention to Pierre since I think before the Fort McMurray Wildfire Evacuation in 2016, and have viewed him for many years as 'a future Prime Minister of Canada.' Now I view him as 'the next Prime Minister of Canada' and it's looking like he will start things off with a Majority Government because people can finally see and feel how bad Justin Trudeau is. I've seen it since at least 2018, but now finally my fellow Canadians are waking up. Sometimes people need to learn the hard way, sadly. I still have lots and lots of respect for Maxime Bernier and the libertarian People's Party of Canada, whom I voted for in the 2019 & 2021 Federal Elections because Andrew Scheer and Erin O'Toole both disappointed me with their lurching MY Conservative Party towards the centre/left, but Pierre Poilievre is a man I admire and TRUST! That’s why Paul writes in Galatians that there is "neither Jew nor Gentile… for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28). For me, this means that God’s chosen people are no longer defined by ethnicity or national borders but by their relationship with Christ. I also struggle with how the idea of modern Israel being God’s chosen people is sometimes used to justify political or even violent actions. I believe that many of the promises made to Israel in the Bible were conditional. The prophets were clear that Israel needed to follow God’s laws to continue receiving His blessings. So, when I see people using these ancient promises to defend actions today, without considering the full context of those scriptures, I feel like something important is being overlooked. The modern state of Israel, established in 1948, is a secular nation, not the biblical theocracy that was originally chosen by God. It's a political entity, and while it has deep cultural and religious significance, it doesn’t automatically mean it carries the same divine status. Historically, I think it’s important to remember that there’s a huge difference between the ancient nation of Israel and the modern state of Israel. The Jews have been scattered all over the world for millennia, and many Jewish communities have mixed with other peoples and cultures. So, when someone claims that today’s Israel is a continuation of biblical Israel, I question how accurate that really is. The modern Jewish identity is incredibly diverse, and I don’t think it can be simply equated with the ancient Israelites. In my view, God’s plan has always been bigger than just one nation. The Old Testament prophets, like Isaiah, spoke about Israel being a "light to the nations" (Isaiah 49:6), and in the New Testament, Jesus extends the message to all people, not just one group. God’s love and promises now encompass everyone who believes, no matter their background. That’s why the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19 tells us to go and make disciples of all nations. Lastly, it’s important to recognize that not all Jews believe modern Israel is the fulfillment of God’s promises either. Some Jewish groups, especially ultra-Orthodox Jews, actually reject the modern state of Israel as having any divine significance. They believe that the true restoration of Israel can only happen when the Messiah comes, not through political means. So, from my perspective, the idea that modern Israel is God’s chosen people isn’t grounded in how I understand the Bible, history, or God’s plan for humanity. I believe God’s chosen people are now defined by faith in Jesus, and that His promises and love are available to all, regardless of nationality or ethnicity.
