I had been applying for a year and a half most that called or emailed me would want to hire me, but I would want to give me the location that's farther away than I had applied for. But the wait has finally paid off. It's a little farther than the first store they told me I would work at, but it will pay more than they promised first. Keep applying and think positive. 😉

1. All Cloud roles 2. All Cybersecurity roles 3. All Data roles 4. DevOps I'm positive better and more omnipresent AI becomes, those roles will be more in demand.

I don't mean to be rude but I find many people think that just because you have a degree and certs that you are guaranteed a job. That is only part of the equation. You can be good on paper but have no hands on skills or adapt to adding more than what others are doing. You have to be a person who might specialize in a fied such as a developer who might focus on Devops or Cloud but also know the security side and continue learning. You have to evolve with what can make you more valuable. Learn to use AI as a tool or become multi cloud or how to automate. I love the content and the discord community. All the best!

@@caleboni.certified 2 main reasons and 1 bonus you actually already illuded to reason 1. many candidates simply do not stack up skill wise as well as they think they do. specifically in tech. they may be OK at best but dont stand out against the requirements for the role. reason 2, and the bigger reason. many candidates are poor interviewers. you can have a gold plated resume. all the knowledge and skills in the world. but if you dont interview well and convey that then you will NEVER get the offer. and as you mentioned networking. most people wait until they are laid off to start the process. big failure. no matter how good and comfortable you are always keep the process in motion. especially if you have been in the field for a bit. you should have at the very least a small group of recruiters you are always in contact with. even when they know you have a job. a good recruiter will reach out to you regularly to see if you are happy. the reason this matters is timing. by the time you see a role posted it is already too late. many managers and companies will only take X number of resumes. and recruiters know about roles before they are "posted" officially. so they will already start lining up applicants. So when you are finding a job on a listing site and applying you are likely a straggler at best. And I say all this as someone who was laid off on the 13th and had multiple offers by the 30th of this month.

@@caleboni.certified June will be 27 years in IT. These are the things that have carried me over nearly 3 decades. I may have removed and forgot about more jobs from my resume than some people will ever even have in their entire career. I remember when times were ruff and I struggled to get jobs. And I remember when all that changed.
