As a Coloured person from South Africa, when Tyla said she was Coloured (which is a race in South Africa) it was Black Americans who bullied her for days on Twitter (X) saying "nah, you're Black", when she compromises and agrees (to an extent) it's the same people who are saying "nah, you're not Black". I think you're looking at this wrong. In my experience for the most Africans want nothing to do with American black culture, unless or until it benefits them and that's where we run into the problem with Tyla. There's a disconnect between the 2 groups, I've had African friends who's parents literally did not want them having black friends and let it be known. I read the "colored" title is associated with basically wanting to disconnect from the "black" culture And "black" is considered bottom of the barrel over there.
