I can back @Vulf on this one as a big ol' weirdo who loves Fender designed basses. Nearly every instrument he ever designed was on the basis of being friends with country and western musicians and liking country and western music. When he showed the sting ray to people they were like "Bruh, what is this, it's sooo bright" He made a prototype bass with a 5 string pickup on a 4 string model to address this (and actually scientifically there are some major advantages to using a 5 pole piece pickup on a 4 string bass).

_The Joe Dart Jr Artist Series Signature Bass is the younger sibling of the popular Joe Dart bass. With its custom contoured body and simplified single humbucking layout, the Joe Dart Jr packs a serious punch in a convenient smaller package. The bass features a lightweight ash body, select maple neck, and a passive neodymium pickup that is at the heart of its warm, punchy tonality. No controls or equalization to color the sound; the tone is manipulated solely by the user's technique and finesse. Finished in Olympic White, the Dart Jr is nicely outfitted with 22 stainless steel frets, chrome hardware, and comes set up tuned down to C standard with custom .045 - .105 Ernie Ball Short Scale Flatwound Bass Strings. The Joe Dart Jr ships with a black Mono "Vertigo" gig bag providing unparalleled protection thanks to its military-spec rugged construction._ *The Joe Dart Jr is limited to just 50 instruments worldwide.*

This bass would look like a toy next to my Spector NS-5, which is a ginormous beast with all its knobs, switches, and 37" multi-scale neck, while this one is pretty much the exact opposite.
