So I subbed right before you left for this trip. I started watching when you were talking about food prep and the math involved. I'm not on here that much, so by the time I logged in again I got to watch all of them so far in one day. So far this is an amazing funny adventure. With the LotR(Bags) and this episode opening with So I Married an Axe Murderer, and then you quoted The Princes Bride, Star Wars I'm pretty much boiling over.. you are pretty much the coolest! Keep up the travels! Stay Dry!

One thing I've found about the blues is how they hit you when you're doing a lot of hard effort hiking, sometimes even after a day or two of putting in the effort. Hit me on the PCT in Northern Cal'. The way to fight it, or endure them, is just keep walking. One of the many reasons I've gone to ultralighting or at the very least, lightweight hiking. Sure makes the trips like this much, much, mucho more enjoyable. And as for the tent leaks, I treat my tents, new or old, with spray-on silicon, every so many years. You just can't trust even brand name, high end stuff anymore. Factories don't pay attention to details like they once did. Hiking that high, you have to expect bad weather at any time of the year. Rising air makes clouds and it can cause the blues and get old and nasty, as you've often experienced in this one, but you know that... I feel for your strain and effort, but its all part of the experience you'll look back on with smiles and warm feelings, someday. This series has been a delight. Now, the big question is, When are you going to do the PCT??? Love 'em!

Wanted to drop you a line. I am not a frequent commenter but felt that the time you put into these, music choices, and their overall quality required an atta-girl. Mixing in the map, titling, and your overall silliness (poetry, songs, etc) make this series. Started last night with your food review and couldn't go any future with reaching out. You are throughly entertaining [and very appealing woman:) ]. Subscribing - Thank you!

great vid as always. waiting for another as usual. sad to hear about the tent, but rain will eventually get in. it is just about the amount of water it has to deal with and how long. sometimes you have to feel sad to feel good again. i am to glad to see that the sadness didn't stay. stay safe and don't use every weekend editing vids. you seem happiest in the back country.

I've done a lot of east and Midwest hiking, but from some of your shots I'm thinking I need to make my way out there for a few trips!!! Have you hiked any of the AT sections? I would think with the area you hike out west the AT would fall short, but I have to say the Smoky Mountains are something to see. It's a hump, don't let it fool you; keep up with the great videos!!!!

Brooklyn, do you know the hiker Red Beard? You and him are very interesting to watch. He had this umbrella that also is gray and reflects the sun away from him. But worked great for rain as well. I enjoyed your videos. You are very funny and remind me of Huell Howser. You would make a good PBS host. Just a thought.

Landmark has done a fabulous job on this, so this just really gets me, but I have to get it out: at 18:35 and on in this segment, that is NOT Whitney. Its just not. I am sorry I can't tell you what is is but I can't do the math. It has a sort of resemblance to the classic profile of Whitney as seen from Lone Pine, but LP is 13 miles due east of MW and Pinchot is 50 miles due north. Even if you could see MW from Pinchot, that's not the profile you would see. For extra credit though what is that tantalizing specter of the end of the trail that you see from Pinchot?

Hi, may I first just say that you're hilarious! :-) I really like your whole approach in dealing with the circumstances and humorous anecdotes, especially the marmots bit. I have a question though. How do you pack your wet tent or how do you deal with packing and carrying a wet tent? Kind regards.

+Gert Maes I'm not sure how she does it, but i will shove it in a back mesh pocket on my pack and when i stop for lunch or a break, i'll pull it out of the back pocket and lay it in the sun or hang from a tree to let it dry out
@GJM89
@GJM89 8 жыл бұрын
+Katie Davis Thanks! That's a very good (and logical) advice! I'm looking for ways to keep the inner tent and the interior of my pack dry. This should do the trick.

I really would like to know what failed to make the tent leak. I am about to buy that same tent only updated 2015 model. what happened? Sorry you had a sad day, darn leak.
@LandmarkAdventures
@LandmarkAdventures 9 жыл бұрын
I believe it was the fact that on the short side of the rain fly there are no guy line ties. Therefore, after much heavy rain overnight, and the fly sticking to the tent side, water had access to the top of the seam where there is mesh. It was the only place it leaked and I've heard this happen to others. A simple fix is to attach some sort of loop or grommet so you can guy those sides out. I still hold faith in this tent. It was my bad. I see that the new version has less mesh. That should help.
