One of the best game show hosts ever. I believe he took over after Jack Barry passed. He did the same thing for Password+ when Allan Ludden was dying of cancer. My favorite period for commercials is around 1970 (immediate post-MAD MEN era) to the turn of the millennium. The 2000's brought about a change (I cannot exactly explain what) in TV advertising that ended an era. Perhaps being born in 1980 & having a memory stretching back to around 3 years old, there is a definite feeling of comfort in watching them from then.

Now that's interesting. Of all the TJW vids I've found here on KZbin, this is the only one I've come across (thus far), where a challenger won the game because the champion's math was off as to how many questions would have to be answered correctly on a "Bid" category (with respect to the value of the questions) to be able to accumulate enough money to either tie or beat the opponent's score. I don't recall that happening too often.

Back in 1986 when USA Network was showing game shows like "The Joker's Wild" with Bill Cullen, it was then their own lineup worth watching. And as the Devil took a hike for this episode, it was from season 8 when the Audience Game was revised with two onstage members of the studio audience, and a home viewer who used a touch-tone telephone to play along, in this final season for the Audience Game and the Joker Home Bonus, and rights to this game show in reruns now belong to Sony Pictures Television. @MatthewJicha2 жыл бұрын
No. Jack Barry had the substitution host Jim Peck for several years and was going to retire and pass the hosting duties permanently to Peck at the start of 1984-85 season. But when Jack died suddenly in May of 1984, his partner Dan Enright gave the job to Bill Cullen since everyone on The Joker's Wild staff all wanted Jim Peck to take over. Also, in the fall of 1984, that's when Jeopardy debuted, and Wheel shot to the top of the game show ratings overtaking Dawson's Family Feud and Tic Tac Dough.

There really isn't a lot of 1984-85 season Joker episodes on KZbin. THis may be the first besides the premiere, which was taped off WOR on its OB on 9/10/84. The 1985-86 Cullen season aired on GSN(the first two-thirds or so of it did anyway) in 1998-99. USA was the last time the 1984-85 season of Joker was shown.

Zach Horan True in the USA. This season of TJW (or at least a portion of it) was shown on the British cable station 'Lifestyle' in 1989 and 1990 under their "Great British Gameshows" strand (they also showed some of what will have been the last 1984 Barry shows around the same time). At the time I found it curious that the show was still credited to "1984 Jack Barry Productions" despite Cullen being the host; of course back then we knew little of the US gameshow industry and I just assumed that Barry must have retired as host and continued as producer.

On most game shows (like this one, for example) where a contestant is given an amount of money they won in cash, it's just for show. What usually happens is the contestant receives a check from the show's producers for the total cash part of their winnings. As for prizes (excluding trips), the show's staff can arrange to have them shipped to wherever the contestant's residence is, either from retailers in the city in which the show is produced, or a retailer carrying the prize(s) won, closest to where the contestant lives. As for trips, they usually make arrangements with the nearest travel agency to where the contestant resides.

Just for show though, but yes. Unless it is under a certain amount, then you get to keep the cash... Like "quickie" deals on Let's Make a Deal... Most of those are $200 or less, so you usually can keep the cash on the "quickie" deals.
