I rarely comment on KZbin, however, this is arguably the greatest shanty/folk song I’ve heard in years. The simple tonal changes make it roar like a Dylan song. The heavy reliance on bass riffs, to emphasize the lyrical hooks, makes it feel like a “lived-in” original song.

Rival pirates, Jonathan! A pirate ship sails into waters other pirates thought too challenging. As the ship conquers those waters, the other pirates follow in behind to take advantage of the newly-tamed seas. Our ship then turns the fight on them since they were too cowardly to brave those waters on their own.

After their success, the other pirates come in after them to get rich off the seas they had made safe. In return, the brave crew of pirates begin to hunt the others until they are the last ones standing.
