Pakuyasa is the best we all know this. XD Takasugi coming back was just so cool, but the Joi4 reunion along with the ending theme playing just takes the cake honestly with this episode.

Now what's interesting is the basis for some characters may seem simple, like Gintoki. If you look up it’s said he’s based off Sakata Kintoki, a yokai tale about a boy with incredible strength; in fact they did a Ginpachi-sensei about it. However Sorachi mentioned he only took the name and incredible strength part, he didn’t want Gintoki to be a descendant or anything related to that story. Some characters like Hilkata, Katsura or Kondo etc are much more simple and straightforward when it comes to there historical counterparts, but other characters are much more complex when it comes to background. A man named Sakamoto Ryoma was a man famous for bringing Edo into modern day Japan. His life was split into sections, maybe because there was so much to his life to fit into just one character. He had a sister named Otome who was tough on him but he loved her because she was raising him mostly on her own. That’s said to be the inspiration between the dynamic for the Otae and Shinpachi. Later he meets a women named Oryo (like Otae’s friend who Tatsuma is always hitting on). Even though Sakamoto and Oryo share the same names, it’s fair to say the dynamic between Gin and Otae lies within them as substitutes since we don’t really see Tatsuma that much. There’s a long story behind them but it’s an incredible story if you ever want to look it up. The real Ryoma met a woman running an inn named Otose. At one point he entrusted Otose to keep Oryo safe while he was away. Later in his life after fighting wars Sakamoto had his own delivery service. See what I mean? Taking several parts of a famous figures life and putting several key parts into numerous characters. It’s fun and interesting. During his life he had won victories by negotiations alone, scoring big wins. That’s important to Japanese history, it was because of him that they entered into a new era. This is why we see Sakamoto Tatsuma at the table during these last arcs. He’s negotiating, talking sense, included in dealings because he was known for that. We start to see that inspiration come out when he’s talking to Nobunobu because he was a man that always looked to the future. I wish more people knew stuff like this because it’s what makes small parts like that in the show that much more intriguing and cool!
