Krillin, Yamcha and Tien were the bully type before they met Goku so it would seem that he has the uncanny ability to turn his enemies/rivals into friends even you Prince Vegeta but in your case it would be a friendly rivalry since you both push each other to new heights of martial arts skill that neither of you could have never reached without the both of you to motivate each other.
