I want to say thank you for your videos. 8 weeks ago my wife left me. She was my rock and I worshipped her. She was the centre of my universe. Every day is a struggle, I feel I’ve tried everything, I try to get out and about daily, I try to eat when I can’t, I stay in touch with friends and family, I go to therapy, I’ve tried going back to work. I’ve tried meditation but nothing stops me having a breakdown daily where i just cry and cry. I’d even started to self harm. I’m not a body builder but I’ve started to workout at home using body weight training. I came across your videos on KZbin shorts and your sincerity comes across in spades and it gives me hope that i can make it. I’m a man in his 40s and I think I’ve come to realise men really do suffer in silence. My future was mapped out and now it just seems like there’s massive black hole but your support in your videos are giving me a glimmer of hope. Thank you

Stay strong brother, don't try to do too much, one step forward at a time, develop those good habits and try to give yourself those small goals and small victories to keep yourself pushing forward. Remember setbacks are just a learning point, and the measure of a man is how many times he's willing to get off the mat and keep pushing forward. Best of luck to you in the future.

(This is so long. Sorry in advance!) I am so sorry for your loss. For the loss of the life you thought you were going to spend with this woman. I can empathize, the person I thought I would be with forever, my true love, died. And it’s like… why, wtf, now what do i do. Sadly I wasted a decade of my life, almost all of my 30s in a dark depression over this loss. His loss and the loss of the future I had hoped for since I met him as a teenager. So I can understand what you’re feeling. Thankfully she is still on this earth but the personal loss is the same. The one piece of unsolicited advice I can give you, is do what you can to “bury” the loss of the future you thought you’d have with her. Mourn it. And try to move on. Don’t look up photos, social media, walk down memory lane… don’t contact her on nights you’ve had a little to drink, don’t reminisce on the good times. There is a reason it’s over, whether it be cosmic or chaotic. Be sad over that loss… but find a way to move on. Easier said than done, right. But that really is the only way to heal your soul. Cry it out, get mad, you deserve to be angry when things don’t go your way, it’s ok. It’s good you’re using that anger to better yourself by going to the gym. Focus on that - self improvement is one of the best ways to move forward. Whether that be physical emotional mental or educational improvements… or all of the above. Find a way to look yourself in the mirror and say This moment does not define the rest of my life. I deserve good things. I deserve to be happy. You cannot allow your happiness to solely be contained within another person. People will always let you down, whether they intend to or not. We have to find inner strength for times like these when the sky is darkest. We have to be our own light, our own advocate. At the end of the day, and as lame as it sounds, you are all you have. Friends family partners, yes they are people who will and can be there for you but not 100% of the time. And truly once you work on getting back to baseline, after you’ve gone thru the stages of grief, after you’ve spent time on YOU… that’s when you can open yourself up to finding someone else. Bc as of now it’s just gonna be a rebound. And another. And another. And that’s ok - just be honest with yourself about it. Seeking solace in another’s arms is completely human. And really going out to singles meetups where you go cook or bowling or to a comedy show or whatever-get out there and just BE around other people. People who don’t know you. People with whom you have no connection and therefore you don’t care if you impress them or not. Just go to go, go to have fun. You deserve it. You’re in your 40s, life only gets shorter for people our age. We deserve to be happy and to spend the time we have on this earth doing things that bring us joy. And sure there will ALWAYS be bad or sad things that happen. Hearts are made to be broken, bc we learn from those moments. We remember by the scars… but they’re scars bc they’ve healed. Right now you’ve got an open wound that needs to be healed, and you’re the only one who can heal it. So cry it out. Get mad and punch the mattress (or a bag at the gym!). Look thru her socials one last time. Look at your old photos and videos one last time. And then unfollow. Hide the photos and videos in the hidden folder. Tell her you’re happy for her and you hope for nothing but good things for her. No matter how much you might not mean it in that moment. Be the person you want to become. Be that person who can move on. Who can be healthy emotionally. Physically. Hell, go take a fckin salsa class or Spanish lessons. Just get out there around other people. Not even for dating. Just for camaraderie. Make new positive memories to mix in with all the positive ones you have from your marriage. Not that you should forget the good times you had with your wife… but you can’t let those memories be a constant flood of regret and sadness daily in your mind anymore. Be happy for the time you had. But move on. It might take a year. Hopefully it doesn’t take ten like it did for me. Just plz if you listen to anything I say, plz plz plz look at yourself in the mirror and just say to yourself out loud “I deserve good things, I deserve to be happy.” I swear it sounds so dumb I know 😂 but I honestly believe it works. Bc until you accept that, you won’t be able to move on from this. Not in a healthy way at least. Use all this anger and heartache as fuel to kick ass in the gym. You’ll get stronger, look better, gain confidence. Put away social stalking and scrolling old photos. Take down photos in the house. Don’t have a pic of her as your phone background. Don’t have one by your bed. Don’t post sad sht on Instagram. “Be the change” and all. Put forward the persona you want to be and let it fall into place. Socializing with friends and strangers is so important. Find stuff to keep you busy. And one day you’ll wake up and you’ll realize wow I haven’t been sad about my ex in days. Wow I haven’t randomly cried in weeks. Wow I haven’t even thought about that stuff in over a month. Don’t let this loss rob anymore of your life away from you. People get shot just going to a restaurant nowadays. People get killed driving around town. Every moment is precious. Don’t waste it being sad over someone who doesn’t want to be with you anymore. Be sad about the life you lost but move forward. You deserve to be happy. You deserve good things. You will be ok ❤ had things not happened like they did for me, I wouldn’t have my beautiful 2 year old daughter who is my complete world. I hate the saying “everything happens for a reason” as I don’t believe in fate or destiny or purpose, but I do believe we are each responsible for our own happiness and only then can we be a positive force in this world. Hurt people hurt people. Heal, learn, grow, move on. You got this, friend. Oh and just wanted to add, I have too many scars on my arms and legs from self harming. Idk how you’re doing it but seriously try and find ANY other outlet for those moments. Mine were fueled by alcohol intake. I completely quit drinking or taking anxiety pills like Xans bc that only seemed to exacerbate the overwhelming negative thoughts. If you still get to where you’re feeling like hurting yourself, please, call someone, go on a walk, do anything to get your mind out of that trap. It. Does. Not. Help. You know this, I’m sure. But you have to find another outlet. That by far is the most dangerous slippery slope. It becomes addictive. The gym is actually a good substitute bc the body’s response is the same - dopamine and endorphins right. I really suggest getting a punching bag if you have a place for one in your house. Something you can expend all the energy and frustration onto. I also have mad respect for you for being so open about all this stuff. It’s sad how men are trained from a young age to hide their emotions. Even anonymously online guys have a hard time opening up. It’s a great first and second step. If you’re going to therapy I would suggest mentioning the self harming but just be careful bc they can always say hey we are gonna hold you for 48 hours to make sure you don’t do anything crazy. I worded it as thoughts and not actions. Idk if that was smart in the end or not tho but honestly this was the same dr who thought plying me with Xans was the resolution to my emotional issues versus something like CBT so… therapists/drs aren’t always the smartest or most capable. If you’re still struggling emotionally in 6+ months (since what happened is still very recent for you) I’d suggest looking into CBT therapy. Don’t fall into the “here just take this pill every day and you’ll be fine” trap.

Thanks for being real with us Noel. I really appreciate this video. I went through a similar journey in 2020-2021 and have come to similar conclusions. I just had my third surgery on my knee this year after shattering it in front of my family in a walk. My physical therapy included a daily 3 hour workout for “work hardening” and honestly I think it saved my life. It was pretty grim in the first part of the year not knowing if I would ever ride a bike with my kids again, or if I’d have to use a cane for the rest of my life. I ran into your videos one day and man, thank you! I hope you find the inspiration to carry on strong through this season of your life in equal measure to the way you’ve inspired so many people.

Noel, you always show up in my recommended when I really need it. I have been falling apart slowly ever since I got to college but I never realized, I will spare details as it is just a bunch. I am watching this late at night when I have an early class, and this has convinced me to get myself together again. Hopefully I will move forward with more hope and more love in my heart. Thank you sir, I wish you the best.

As a trans guy I've had a hard time getting into the gym because of how gendered and intimidating the environment is, but this channel has been incredibly encouraging and I am a week into a fitness class and have started working my upper body more to start getting closer to the physique I want. Only a 60lbs bench press right now but that'll go up in time!

I love you so much Noel! Your voice is helping so many people stuck in life. You really are the person that got me hooked to the gym 2 years ago, and changed my whole philosophy in life! A thank you would be an understatement! I owe you. I always wondered what is my purpose. In those 2 years I learnt a lot of things about myself. I realised that life is way too short for me to sit and ponder what I could have done in the past and got up to do things in the moment. I found many goals. And a big one is that I want to be like you. A pillar of hope for people that need it most. In other words the kind of person my younger self needed the most. You're my hero, man.

Thank you Noel, both you and Hybrid Calisthenics have been my main source of online encouragement this year - Hybrid for his wholesome advice on working out within your current means, and your respectful and stoic advice on how to treat yourself and others, I've gone down from 25 stone 11 pounds to 20 stone 4 pounds so far this year and I've had many times this year where ive struggled with taking one step forward and one step back, but your content always inspires me to try and take that one step forward again regardless of how many set backs I have. Thank you KZbin Daddy

Hey Noel, Since the past 4 years, nothing good has happened in my life, not only health wise but also how the way people have been. This made me realise how important it is to motivate someone and make them push through their hardest times, because no one has and is there with me in my journey. I yet am suffering, but its just a phase. I pray to almighty that you reach even greater heights and maximise your potential❤ Love you man, keep going, you inspire a generation

And I know a lot of people tell you this but thank you for being you, for taking your time to not to just help other people, but also help yourself that you defenaly deserve. I just wanna say something. I fractured my vertebrae and also had a compressed disk a year ago and thought that was the end of me. I did think of giving up all together. I lost my career, had to sell my car, then my house.... and at the end my fiancée left me because of this injury... I almost gave up... Here I am, months later... lost 35lbs of fat, going to the gym everyday training mindfully... finished my course, and registered for university, nursing... I will not give up on myself, or my dreams. Much love brother.

Watching your video talking about sleep apnea got me motivated to get tested and to take the steps to correct it (I always had a feeling I had it, just never confirmed it). My CPAP is on its way as I type this. I was scared to find out i stopped breathing in my sleep, but now I'm excited at the prospect of feeling better than I have in many years and finally fixing the problem. I'm wishing you all the best, Noel. I've missed you and your fatherly advice that I never had growing up.

Noel, my name is Carson. I first got into the gym because I want to do a job in first response. But then suddenly my life fell apart. My parents separated, I got Injured, and my family got more and more broken. But your posts and videos changed my perspective of gym life. Your really inspirational, whatever you go through, please know that your bigger then you may think. (Mentally, of course physically haha), but you have a family of followers who you helped. We care about you. And thank you so much for everything you do. And I personally thank you for what you’ve done for me. Sending love brother ❤

Noel’s been an inspiration to me to take care of myself physically and mentally. I started working out to improve my mental health but as I started to see progress physically, I was even more inspired to keep going. I’m happier now at this time in my life than I’ve maybe ever been but on top of that, I’m more stable and more grounded than I’ve ever been. I still struggle daily with things but I know if I keep going and try to see the light at the end of the tunnel, I’ll get through. I’m very thankful to my past self for persevering and dealing with the hardships.

Noel, you've been an inspiration to millions of people, never forget that. When I first made the decision to try and get back in shape, I was in a horrible position. I was 6'2, 375 pounds (no exaggeration) and I was getting winded walking up a flight of steps. I found your videos while starting my fitness journey back and even though I'm going down a different fitness path (boxer) your humor and sound advice was helpful in discussing things like diet and proper sleep. Almost a year later I am over 60 pounds lighter, and I have gone from being able to barely get up a flight of stairs without getting winded to being able to handle multiple hours of boxing training or sparring up to 6 rounds in a session. I'm not to my goal yet but I feel so much better, healthier, more alert, and happier than I've been in years. The fact that at 40 years old I can get in a ring and spar with kids half my age and hold my own is nothing less than a miracle, and I have inspirations like you to thank for that.
