It was such a memorable moment when Mallory made a fabulous, thoughtful, and controlled, goal and the commentator yelled Pugh!, Pugh!, Pugh!. From the moment she appeared on the USNWT I knew she was going to be the "it player". She hasn't failed. While I love the whole team even after the departure of Karli, Pugh became my focal player in every game. When she was not there, I wondered if she was ill or something? She has turned out to be a serious player while looking fabulous. As a footnote, the camaraderie among the players is so heart-warming. I get teary-eyed. And I love it.

My favorite player. What I like is Mal's ability to get stronger as the game(s) move forward. She actually winds up as she is playing. Becoming a physical beast. She does not let up on her recovery runs. Her speed is fun to watch. Her stature is small and she could pass for a 15 year old. Mallory will always look young.

I only say it because so many of the WNT players went to college and they are still the best in the world. Well...funny you say so. My brothers gf went to high school with her and graduated same year. Said she very stuck up. Like, they were good friends growing up. Then high school, Mal refused to hang out with her. Just shows...what fame or $ does. The friend said "she very stuck up; always thought she better than everyone, all the time." Some said she could go back to college the thing is once you do that those years following high school which you can use to see as a high school player were you are at as a player. Since she has opted to go pro she has lost that opportunity to improve her skill as well as using the collegiate level to grow as a player and improve those high school skills she was blessed with

She's the Romario of women's soccer : small, not the fastest yet technically gifted and possessing an amazing ability to score goals (from both right and left foot).
