I have an egg necklace, from pieces (much simpler and cheaper than the ones in this video) I have added over many years. Some are just polished semiprecious stone, a couple are gold, some are enamelled silver, some are just enamelled “metal”. I have to take special care of it, since the eggs knock together, which risks the enamel being chipped off (such damage is common in pieces worn often). I like to wear it at Easter time.
@maximhollandnederlandthene7640 Жыл бұрын
You should cherish it, not wearing all day and not at night haha. The original bell epoque ones by Michael Perkhin are much more special and extreme quality. The new ones are to wear because they are not that rare.

This imitation cast guilloche is a little underwhelming - obviously they are still pretty pieces but the whole point of guilloche is the bright reflective cuts reflecting light underneath the enamel and that doesn’t happen if they aren’t cut by a tool (here the are cast) - if they had a real guilloche next to it there would be no comparison

@trinomial-nomenclature3 жыл бұрын
Centuries ago, when they were made for the Russian Tsar, they were quite a bit larger, more so than a chicken egg, more along the lines of an ostrich egg. To my understanding, the jeweler who was commissioned to make them each year for the Tsar (to give to his wife as a gift), actually used a real egg and adorned it with diamonds, gold, gems and anything else luxurious at the time. They were deemed as an extremely precious item, more so than today, and *only* the Tsar would be able to have them commissioned.

@Alicia-ij6gt3 ай бұрын
@@sirenelectric143 that wasn’t the goal of Fabergé. It wasn’t about bling. It was about highlighting the design and craftsmanship. Anyone with enough money can assemble a bunch of brilliant cut diamonds and impress the naïve.
