Have you ever heard of gleaning? It's a centuries-old practice that is regaining importance today.
Gleaning is collecting surplus good food from farms, with hundreds of volunteer gleaners getting involved up and down the country.
In this film, Jo Pengilley, who helps run the Avon Gleaning Network, explains the many reasons why gleaning is a great idea. Reducing food waste, encouraging time in nature, supporting food banks, connecting people with their local food systems... The positive impacts are ripe for the picking.
