Wow, you have no idea. I have never met any person on this planet that is more like me than her. That may seem like kind of a good thing to some, but if you really connect with and understand her, it's not so good.. Regardless, she is my musical idol... has been since about 1996 or so. Thanks for saying something pretty awesome about her. :)

I really appreciate this session: I've heard Juliana since 1993 when I was introduced to her by MTV. I become a fan instantly. Since then I bought her albums, first on commercial tapes, then CD's (the last I could access in Mexico where "In Exile Deo") & now through streaming platforms. I always been loyal to her music as well as to her side projects. She is, in my humble opinion, one of the most underrated american rock singer songwriters of her generation.

First time I had seen Juliana Hatfield (Three) live was back in 1993 in a small club called the Town Pump in Vancouver Canada. A pregnant woman's water broke during the show & had to leave. Juliana & the boys didn't notice & never stopped performing. Fun times.

Inducing a labour is one of the most reliable signs you've made it as a musician. Not many are good enough to have that effect. It gets to be a problem eventually, when you can't hit a note without the "funk, funk, funk" of babies dropping to the floor

Where I was when I firs heard "My Sister". At home in an apartment, listening to it on my carousel CD player. Probably opening mail from a music club membership. The album was probably already a good year old and not a new release, but our radio here was always behind on new music from the west coast. I was the first of people in my area to have a lot of new music as the CD club had the line on all the new releases.

She was awesome talent way back when and continues till today. The juxtaposition of her lyrics to the music was huge draw for me, since her "cute rhythm" to the deep dark lyrics was a great contrast. I met her in the early 90s in a small, but vibrant bar in the suburbs of Philly, her onstage presence was inspiring for all strong women, which I am drawn toward.

OMG, I would kill for that! Not literally, of course, but that is SO awesome! I can't even wrap my head around the emotions I would have if I ever got to see and hear her perform in person. I live in San Diego now, so the probability of me every seeing her live is pretty slim. She has so much raw talent and I admire how brave she is by putting herself out there like that. She's just so honest, real, and possesses an admirable amount of humility.

It pisses me off when I think about some of the crap acts that blew up in the early 90s that didn't really deserve the accolades. Then I think about this band and how much I freaking loved/love it and I wonder why a band with such chops and songwriting prowess never blew up to "mainstream A-listers". How many musicians can play rhythm & lead while singing. Not many. Love this band and they're taking me down "nostalgia lane"

To understand 90s music, you have to understand that the Juliana Hatfield Three, Belly, Throwing Muses, Breeders, and Liz Phair existed in the same space and their record labels wouldn't let them touch each other (even when they were related!) because they could only support one woman-led artist.
