Are poisonous frogs a concern at the camp? Cain toads and such? If so how do you keep the animals from eating them? You mentioned the frogs coming out in the rain so Im curious. Love the vid per usual! Love from AZ!

Hey Kenan I think you should pump out the pond when you get alot of water and let the grass and soil filter it. This will dilute those toxins and make the pond safer I think you did this before

Love it ! Yesterday I finally watched Dale and Snaggletooth wrestle that hog in their two tiny puddles and today, here they are in one deep Fred's Lagoon ! Watching the Kamp is such a fascinating education in your ecology because the seasons in Florida are so different from anything I have experienced. In the DRY they dig deeper to reach the "water table" making small, attractive watering holes which attract their prey. Now we have the WET season and I am learning about the invasive Walking Catfish. Love it !

All you're doing with trimming the barbs is protecting slinky and helping to get rid of an invasive. As unfortunante as it is invasives are becoming more and more of an issue all across the country, more than just our country obviously, but the US is really struggling with biodiversity in different areas due to it. Atleast this way slinky gets a meal instead of just loss of life for the fish

I miss seeing these guys everywhere when I lived in Florida! Florida has the best wildlife (native and invasive)! I’m in NC now and it can be similar but the one gater we have is highly highly protected in the state park where he lives wildly. You can only see him if he lets you while you’re kayaking the swamp otherwise he stays away from the walking paths. It’s amazing that he did so well this past winter. Such adaptable animals, proven by their lineage! Thanks for the video Kenan!

It’s amazing how quickly things can turnaround. We’re having a bit of a dry spell here on the Island. Supposed to have some thunder next few days, so that could change. Always great seeing what’s going on down there. Closer and closer to my return to Florida as well. I can retire next June, but want to be fiscally stable so may wait a few more years. I’m probably going back to Orlando, it’s what I’m most familiar with. There are some surrounding communities that are on the table too.

I wouldn’t be surprised if an aviary similar to Blake’s isn’t built around the new pond. A multi-species enclosure housing exotic plants (orchids, cycads, bromeliads), reptiles, birds, fish, (even butterflies) would be great as would an above ground pool built with a viewing window for the large aquatic turtles… admission; $20, seniors & children; $12, KZbin channel members; free with complimentary cocktail. 😂

With all the water on your land and landscaping planned, have you ever considered dragonfly habitats? Plants that flourish in a marshy environment, plus the natural mosquito control with dragonflies (native species) are off the charts.

You know you could build a bit of a natural irrigation, either with a drain pool or into the big pond or something. Might be cool and give a natural water source to places you need it, or even a bit if running water through parts of the kamp. Could be cool, tho maybe expensive deoending on how you wanted to do it (concrete channels could add up) Just a thought, look forward to the koi reflection pond and im glad the animals are doin good!!

Your large turtle pond ought to have its own separate well, like bama bass has. That way the water level can be controlled better to prevent illness. I know it is expensive.

Hi Kenan, I've been thinking about what happened with the Orlidia's a few weeks ago, which also has made me think about how the big pond isn't in anyway filtered. Ed is coming soon to build this new small pond, what about asking him about building a filtration system for the big turtle pond as I know logistically and cost wise it would be super difficult to drain the big pond and catch and house all the turtles and fish in it, but have a similar filter system to what the rec pond has only capable of taking fluctuations in water level and still being able to function properly. That way the ponds would function as they seasonally do each year, and if needed you could add water to them both through irrigation layed into the bridge/burm, that would be able to be controlled separately and manually by just turning a tap on and off. If that pond was filtered and had clear water, the toxins would go down greatly which would be less stress on the turtles in the pond. The water would stay cooler because there wouldn't be the suspended particulate in the water that traps the heat in. Something you could do that would be for the turtles would be to create a swamp as part of the filter that the turtles who prefer that kind of water could move into all on their own. It could still be stocked with fish. All it would take is dredging the pond to make a smaller swamp pond, or even easier, to get a load of clay based dirt and build a subwall, or burm, that would divide the swamp pond from the clear and filtered pond. The swamp pond could be the run off from the filter, which would still keep the water quality good. Then all of the turtles in the big pond could choose which quality of water they want to live in merely by walking out of one pond and into the other pond. That would also create a large basking area and a walking bridge across the pond, another way for you to monitor everyone in both ponds more easily? You could use the island in the middle as part of the separation, that way you could walk to the island to check on things there such as possible turtle nests on the island, and then be able to dig up the nests with ease, incubate the eggs and have more baby turtles for sale or conservation each year. I hope that all makes sense. It was a thought I had the day you posted the video about the Orlidia's floating, but I hadn't thought it through until now and hearing about you making more ponds. I miss the daily videos. Cheers Kenan, Matt - Toronto, Canada

Don't call the kamp old... it's gorgeous now with the rain. Everything will start to bloom and grow... ❤ it is so beautiful. And yes although snaggy and Dale are the animals I like the less... sorry... they are to big and scary to have un your backyard. I still live them. I wouldn't hurt them. I don't hurt any animal. They are so impressive... I prefer the slinks and margy.. and all the tortoises... big and small and the turtles and than you have the small crics and than you have snaggy and Dale. I think it's because they aren't that pettable. Even slinks is loving his pets... I don't know how to explain.. but I hope you understand what I mean. I would love to swim together with slinks, but I wouldn't wanna swim with those 2... 😂 I would love to pet darwin... even lucifer... but not Dale and snaggy 😂... lets say i adore them from a distance and ot always scares me a bit when you go into their enclosure... I don't have that with the other animals... not even the crocmonitors... the little layman neither because they are small... although perhaps even dangerous as their big brother and sister. I don't know why. They are looking so beautiful now they have tons of water... they look so clean. I hope you understand what I mean... say hello to all the animals from me. And thank you for sharing everything with us. I live the kamp. I must say that your kamp never let's me down. It's been years that I follow you and I do t get tired of it. Normally after a while I get enough of a channel. I seen it all. Bit with your kamp I am so attached that I don't want to miss a thing. Thank you for everything you do for those animals. If I was an animal I sure want to live at your place. Big enclosures and good food and able to live as close as you do in the wild. Big hugs from belgium where the dangerous animal is a wolf if you are and the brother of Germany and some foxes that I only see lying dead at the roads 😢... the biggest lizard to find here is a legless lizard or a viper that is 1 foot tall... never saw one in the wild though. And... a small lizard that I found a few times in my backyard that is a few inches... 😂. Spiders are called big when they are almost an inch. 😂. So let me say that it is wonderful to see the native animals in your garden and the non native animals in your backyard... oef long text... sorry. I wish my English was better so I don't need all those words to explain myself... Love you and your family... ❤
