CLIP DESCRIPTION:
When Dre (Jaden Smith) wants to quit, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) shows him how his jacket training has actually helped him learn some kung fu moves.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
When a 12-year-old from Detroit moves to China with his mother and incurs the wrath of the class bully at his new school, he makes an unlikely ally in the form of his aging maintenance man, a kung fu master who teaches him the secrets to self-defense. Upon arriving at his new school, Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) develops a powerful crush on pretty classmate Mei Ying. The feeling is mutual, although the cultural divide between Dre and Mei Ying makes a friendship unlikely, and romance impossible. When cruel classmate and kung fu prodigy Cheng learns of Dre's feelings for Mei Ying, he harasses and humiliates the young outsider in front of the entire school. With no one to turn to for help, Dre confides his fears in kindly maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), a kung fu master who knows that serenity and maturity -- not punches and power -- are the true keys to mastering the martial arts. As Dre prepares to face down his intimidating tormentor, he begins to realize that the real fight is just beginning.

_Heart of the Dragon_ (which was also known as _First Mission_ in some English-language releases) and _Crime Story_ also showcase Jackie's acting without heavily relying on his action comedy persona. _Crime Story_ is also based on a true story.

He doesn’t really get noticed a lot for his acting but moreso his fight choreography, thought I don’t really blame anyone because his main thing is comedy which is mostly slapstick. Really the only dramatic roles he’s done are in Police Story (2013) and The Foreigner. I think if he could speak English more fluently he’d be given a lot more variety of roles.

I love the sentiment this whole scene brings. "Everything is kung fu." Kung fu literally means acquired skill, time spent, ability, or hard work. Everything is hard work in life, that's just the way it is. Get your head out of the sand and do what makes you happy, because it's no harder than anything else. The only thing easier is to not live at all

My dad got so angry at me to the point where you could tangibly feel terror just by being near him and he didn't talk or go near me for 3 days (he wouldve ended me). On the 4th day I asked my mom what the problem was, and she goes "you dont appreciate or see the value of work". I said, its just 50 cents. She goes.. "did you earn it? it may not be a lot but it still has meaning". This scene reminds me so much of that lesson I learned back then. Everything is kung fu, every thing has purpose and meaning.

I felt the same with the new Joker movie. For me, It wasnt "joker." But still, Joaquin Phoenix gave an amazing acting performance and the cinematography was spectacular, but it still sucked as a "joker" movie because it just wasnt "joker." So my point is, people wouldnt have watched this movie, if it wasnt called "Karate kid', as i wouldnt have watched the new joker film if it was called "Mental Health Misunderstandings". Nostalgia and familiar titles/names are a powerful thing for people which draws us in, but its the lessons and beautiful/sad/heartbreaking/heartwarming stories within those movies... that keep us watching and enjoy them.. But in the end, this movie was still a good movie.

Hahah this is the karate kid i grew up with and honestly i love it, i still love it this is the one and only movie that made me willingly listen to a justin bieber song, that clearly means something.

The way Jackie Chan says "strong" "firm" "always strong" "concentrate" had the same tone my grandmother had when she would teach me a life lesson or how to multiply when I was young. I literally see my grandmother in this clip and still cry and think of her every time I do.
