I actually liked the fighting in this film better than original trilogy, the fights are faster, better choreographed. Especially Mr Miyagi fought like a turtle.

And the trilogy were decades older than this one. Fight choreography wasn't at its best when it came out. Also, the actors of the trilogy didn't actually train in Karate. (William Zabka did train Tang Soo Do but only after the movie). They were performing the techniques on the spot unlike this one with Jackie where Jaden actually trained Kungfu before filming and most of the fighters in this tournament were actual martial artist. Cheng's actor trained in Wushu I think, prior to filming. He's currently a stunt actor btw.

@@eduardomagana3858 Yeah, but I'd expect him to be faster since he's supposed to be the best fighter in the series. He literally pulls off the basics in a slow manner and still wins against characters who are using advanced tricks and are being faster. Not saying Mr Miyagi didn't know any advanced tricks, because obviously he knows so so much more then what we saw him do, but somehow him using simple moves just destroys characters who are also really good at fighting. There are some fights where we have seen Mr Miyagi go fast, but it was still mostly basic moves.

Cobra Kai is more about storytelling and 《life's lesson》. It stays true to 1984's Karate Kid vibes, thus by mixing it to today's generation so..Though it's build up, I think the fights are just here for the tournament or some karate scene. It's the training they wanted to show the most.. And they tried to be the most realistic possible. What they're doing in this Karate kid's movie, isn't really Karate to be fair. It's more like a spectacular choregraphy. Which explains why it's more entertaining to watch. If this were to be a true karate tournament, well they have some olympic's levels/skills ahah
