And y'all wonder why I want to spend so much time alone?? hello?? When you're a teacher, your entire day is for the benefit of OTHERS. Sometimes, you have 5 minutes to go to the restroom if a teacher across the hall can watch your class as well as their own for those 5 minutes. Even lunch duty means you're responsible for everyone in the cafeteria (or outside if that is your semester assignment) and you eat your lunch standing UP at the same time you "supervise" all the students. Be careful, if there's a "fight" that breaks out during lunch, not only do you have to stop the fight and get more help, but your lunch is OVER, too. There are other "after-school" activities for many teachers, too. At the end of the 9-10 hour day, you can't wait to get home and sit in peace and quiet. It's meaningful work, but it does take lots of energy and commitment. Now, I'm reading the books I always wanted to read, but never got around to reading. I take long walks outside because I enjoy nature and fresh air and because I don't have to hurry. I don't have DRAMA like these karmics have. I like drama when it's on the stage and I buy a ticket ---- or watch it on TV. My life was fast-paced in my school days, and I don't believe my partner's days were this full. Maybe I needed to pay more attention at home. I would give up school for a happy home life with the love of my life. I would've swept floors for a living just to be with my person at the end of the day.
