Kammanassie is where my folks have a farm (not far from Eagle Falls). I am inspired to do this route myself now. There is so much beauty in that part of the world. The Swartberg Pass, Prince Albert, Meirings Poort, Prince Alfred's Pass, Kom se Pad. All worth the trip. Well done on this ride and inspiring others to do the same.

Enjoy! It really is stunning! We had our camera man following us in the car as a support vehicle. We talk in more details about how we did the route in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6DNqqKtbN2KhLM

What length stems were you using on the scalpels, they look a lot shorter than the standard length.
@WILDAIRSPORTS4 жыл бұрын
J-Dogg had a 50mm and Doug's was 80mm. They are used to shorter stems on their trail bikes and so they put on different stems to be comfortable. Shorter stems also make the bike more stable and give a more direct feeling to the steering.

What would you guys recommend is the best bike to take on this route? Gravel or MTB?
@WILDAIRSPORTS4 жыл бұрын
Our view, at this stage, is a marathon MTB with around 100mm of travel. We found that when the bike was locked out, it offered a rigid efficient platform to go faster but when it got super bumpy and rutted, the suspension really took the edge off and made for a much more comfortable ride. We were on the 2020 Cannondale Scalpel, the perfect kind of bike for this type of journey.
