the katana is INSANE. right when i got it, i left the cave and there was a whole party of cannibals outside waiting for me. 5 minutes later there were bodies and endless body parts strewn out everywhere around the cave exit. made me feel like a badass

'Artefact 1' appears to be the obelisk from the first game, just in an open field with some sort of brightly-colored flora around. The paper mentioning 'Artefact 2' shows the.. whatever the EMP pulse spheroid thing from the first game was called - you can see the very distinct shape of the object itself as well as the details of those vent-like things across its surface, but it's an artist's rendition of it on what seems to be a dark stone tablet. Presumably that was made by the cannibals themselves or by some sort of remnant society of whatever or whoever built the artefacts, however long ago that may have been. 3:44 I don't know if it's a situation of suddenly changing like that. It might be that, left to their own devices, the various mutants will still act like whoever they once were. Those ones might've starved or perhaps been poisoned via their food? Hard to say. Based on the other things, I suspect one of the goals of the game (aside from settling the fight between Sahara and that other group) will be opening the 'cube artefact', and getting whatever is inside. Presumably that's why you got a paper transcribing various runes into numbers. The maintenance areas appear to be prefabs. They each bear the same layout so that it's easier to build them, both in a mapmaking sense and a construction sense, but they all appear to have different environmental details, such as the one being flooded. Presumably, maintenance staff lived in them and were called out to each place they were needed, rather than them being access to major systems - and, presumably, they aren't above ground because then the cannibals would get to them easily, and wiping out a low-level civilization isn't going to help your public appearance. The katana may shred individual cannibals, but I doubt it does much beyond annoy any substantial mutant. Do watch out there - it will have its shortcomings.

10:27 just a tip for the endgame: you can kill these things with the cross if you've picked it up. you flash it at them and they burst into flames because they're actual demons

fun fact: you can kill the weird "alien" creatures with the cross which you can find positioned on a rock in the rope gun cave. if you equip it and thrust it at the weird little demon creatures, they burst into flame and die

the golden armor doesnt break and blocks a percentage of all damage. what the percentage is, i have no idea, but i've noticed a significant decrease in the amount of damage i take, alongside the convenience of not having to reapply armor.

Golden Armor is a special progression item that gives the player a full armor protection bar instead of the standard segmented one. It doesn't break or lose quality if used in combat, and is a permanent item that lasts forever. While classified as armor by name and utility, it functions as an outfit item that replaces the armor of the player. and the printed mask for the big cannibals only works for limited time. the golden mask you collected would make them think your one of them, i could be wrong though.

The pistol is based on the Chiapa Rhino with the firing chamber at the bottom rather than the top of the cylinder, making muzzle flip almost zero and forcing the recoil to a lateral line, making target acquisition for a secondary shot MUCH faster. People call em ugly, but they probably also have iPhones because they're prettier.

I know you probably wont see this or try this but a while ago when you played the forest (the original) some one said that a plane flys over and if u use the flare gun the plane would see it. but i just realised that the plane flys over about 30 secs after you place the SOS sign, that could be something you could try.

I agree inventory needs to be quicker but at least we can carry a ridiculous amount of items in that little pack. Also, taking the time to properly equip items on your hot keys and backpack access is a big plus. But yea, in a bind it could be the defining variable between death and survival.

Hooked on your videos now and watching every episode! I think you missed something significant though? Along with a HUGE reference to the original. If you’d stayed to watch the cameras where you picked up Virginia’s VIP Card, you’d see the point where everyone in that dining room you went to next turned into mutants for the first time. You could also look at the name tags at the dinner tables to see who was present at that moment and who wasn’t. Virginia’s place was obviously empty, along with I think her mother’s? Her father at the head of the table turned though. Also, like someone else commented, the father that yells, “Get down, son!" is your character from the first game, and "the son" is your boy you’d spent the whole game trying to save.

Just bought this game, but I'll have to wait to install it, currently have a little problem called 30-40 mile per hour wind with 60 mph gusts. Internet and power not exactly reliable right now. In the meantime, while mother nature rages on and slowly rips the roof off our shop, I might as well watch more SOTF content.
