I am curious if this folk music as the playing style and scales have a strong Chinese and pentatonic basis.

Absolutely,The ancient Chinese were very close to the Koreans.The Koreans used thousands of Chinese characters when writing.Than in the 13th century King Sayjong and his scholars invented a much easier writing system called Hangul.King Sayjong wanted the Korean people to become more literate.Ancient China and Korera were very advanced societies.

What is the difference between the Chinese Guzheng,and the Korean Gayagum?
@haesung9256
@haesung9256 2 жыл бұрын
Chinese guzheng has 21 strings made of metal(traditionally silk before the improvement period) and are played with false nails aka finger picks. The guzheng has a very bright sound and is tuned in a pentatonic scale. The gayageum traditionally has 12 strings made of silk but modern variations have more strings as seen in this video. 25 string gayageums have strings made of nylon so they are louder and brighter than the 12 string gayageums, but not as warm or rich in my opinion. The key differences between the guzheng and gayageum would be the playing styles, music style, string materials, and overall playing technique.

I've been listening to the "big three" Asian countries (the ones people typically think about when coining the term Asian), and I'm wondering how traditionally Korean music is composed. Japanese music and Chinese music seem to share this unified pattern thing going on --- it sweeps in and stays fairly constant (i.e. it's almost predictable and easy to follow). Korean music seems so...broken up, discordant almost. But rather than being unpleasing, it's just "broken" in the sense that the melody seems so unpredictable. I try to find a clear rhythm (and mind you I'm not a professional), but I'm uncertain how they get from point a to point b. The music's melody just changes so frequently I can't find the pattern. 🤣 Is it meant to have one? I don't really get music but if you can give me insight that would be great. It kind of reminds me of some African-originating music like jazz with the style and lack of consistency. I wonder if improvisation is also valued in Korean music. Thanks, and it really picks up a bit in, which was great. 👍👍👍

Someone has to tell the musicians to stop using western instruments in a traditional Korean band.Did the Koreans use a Violin during the three kingdoms period?

技艺超众,旋律优美!!! 毫无疑问,韩国人在艺术领域取得的成用一句无与伦比形容绝对不过份。。。 祝这些艺术家们身体健康,有机会到中国来表演才艺和文化交流。
