I have heard the banshee...you describe her sound well... forlorn is also the sound I'd say..a cry so heartbreaking, more than sadness. It wasn't wailing or loud.. it sounded like a young woman .that's all I can say. My gran died the next day. But I can still recall the sound..

Wow that is very powerful, I'm sorry to hear about your Gran. But thank you for sharing your encounter with a Banshee, that must have been a very harrowing experience. I'm glad that you liked the video too, thank you so much for checking it out :)

Nearly half an hour for a tale that's usually contained within 1 or 2 pages covering banshees in folktale books. Absolutely brilliant! Thank you! I always imagine a banshee to have these red, sore eyes like extreme hayfever from all being constantly wet and weepeing.

Aw thank you so so much! That is such lovely feedback, I'm so glad you enjoyed it :D yeah I think that the banshee is such an interesting part of Irish folklore and am always amazed by how far-reaching their influence has become in the wider world of myths and legends too. Researching them for this video has been an absolute joy! I love all the different ways people imagine them too, a scary old lady or a young woman who escorts her family to the Otherworld. I think that they're such a great example of how stories and legends change from place to place and with different people's perspectives. Thank you so much for checking out the video, I really appreciate it!

I love the interpretation of the Banshee as a protector rather than a malevolent presence! I think it's such a lovely way to look at her :)

Is this a real legend or you wrote this?
@theramblingseanchai10 ай бұрын
It's adapted from an old Lady Wilde story but I altered it a bit to tie in more with the scenery around Rathlin Island :)
