I am confused: How are well-compensated workers bad for business? To pay above-market wages leads to less turnover, no? Less turnover leads to lower hiring costs (i.e. background checks). Retaining experienced employees increases efficiency, which means more products reach more shelves. Is anything I wrote incorrect? I am a willing listener.

Exactly like what Walmart did. Made tons of money being the few open markets during covid shutdown. Workers being essential. Forced to work risking catching covid from customers. On a 6 point system. Fired for 6 absences. Then cut lots positions so long time workers are forced out. Hire part time workers to save money on benefits. Then Union support isn't allowed.

This 2 tier thing sounds like they want an apprenticeship. Always 2 sides to every story and as 25yr union member I’m well aware of what unions are, they’re main goal is always self preservation. Why? Have you ever been part of a union?
@janiceschroeder99082 жыл бұрын
They are. In fact, their presence even raises the wages of nonunion workers around the country. When Reagan started union-busting, those low-wage, "crap" jobs soon followed. And have persisted until things started to change recently. There was upskilling at workers' expense and downwaging. Reagan was responsible for the majority of the adverse circumstances for workers in the last 40 years. He also introduced stock buy-backs, which is where some of the money that should have been paid out in wages goes and which incentivizes those in the C-suite to keep doing it because they get more money. When you buy back stock, it raises the stock's price. Part of their compensation is stock options. That increase goes to the people in the C-suite. It's time for a change in wages and the way workers are treated. I think this strike has contributed toward changing workers' circumstances for the better and it's about time. Great wishes to all of you.
