I teach people how to build and run their own iAVs and, unfortunately, a lot of people that come from a background in aquaponics can never seem to let go of their obsession with lettuce.

They are some expensive seeds. 100 seeds for $12. Isn't that .12 per seed.

Worth every cent too. The product is that much better than standard lettuce.

Yes, Salanova. That’s the main commercial lettuce grown everywhere in the US when cut as baby leaf.

I much prefer Muir And red Cherokee to salanova!
@ZaraThustra-w2n9 күн бұрын
Both are subpar in comparison, but a good option for a budget. I grow Muir in the summer, for sure.
@michaelbell3629 күн бұрын
@@ZaraThustra-w2n subpar in what respect?’Muir will out produce salanova all day on first and 2nd cuttings in terms of weight.
@ZaraThustra-w2n9 күн бұрын
@@michaelbell362 Yea, but the leaves of Muir damage easily in processing as it has that pronounced rib through the leaf. Muir has heat resistance, but it is much more prone to slugs/aphids, mostly due to the watery rib, once again. I can't grow it in summer because slugs just gravitate to Muir. Also the leaves of Salanova are more uniform and thicker.
@michaelbell3629 күн бұрын
@ where are you located? I’ve never seen a slug here in Texas lol. Only lettuce insects I deal with are F’ing cabbage worms! Do you sell salanova by the head too or just in mixes?

I can grow Muir 10 months out of the year in south Florida but it doesn’t present as well as salanova. It’s great for burgers and sandwiches but not a high end salad mix
