Amid soaring input prices, we are seeing more evidence that shows the important role biology plays in crop health and quality.
We now know that biology in the soil can deliver more of the crop’s nutrients than we expect, and that key realization is being too often ignored. For our crops to properly take advantage of soil biology, we first need to have vigorous microbial populations established at germination.
Tune in to Director of Education David Miller and John Kempf as they explain why a profitable season starts with biology, demonstrating the connections between soil health, plant health, and regenerative practices.
At AEA, we work with growers to create customized crop programs, combining our biological and mineral nutrition products with regenerative practices to improve crop quality, yields, and disease and insect resistance while regenerating soil health.

This is 2022. This stuff is far too important to allow audio to sound like robotic crap. If you don't know how to fix this I can help, there are simple ways to eliminate this completely and if your audio/visual person doesn't know how then you need to educate him/her. This content is gold, needs to be archival.

Farmers (growing wheat) look quality only in one aspect and it is protein content, so all the Mn, Mo, Ca, Mg and so on is not a quality they are looking for because noone is paying for that.

@@karl6458so it looks like a pricething? Shouldnt the national government bodies set quality standards so that every farmer knows what he needs to grow and sets the prices for this for consumers? Maybe simple but could help
@karl6458
@karl6458 11 ай бұрын
@@hansscholte5472 it is a matter of price. Essentially there are animal feed wheat as the lowest quality because of the low protein level, then comes food wheat for human consumption and highest quality should be organic wheat where no chemicals are used and this is also most expensive for consumers but making money from it is quite hard.

@@karl6458 agree Karl. So what do you think? I’m involved in a self help group with people with Parkinsons disease. More and more evidence comes at the table there is a correlation between PD with Wine farmers in the North of France and the fact a lot of pesticides are used in Wine crops. Possibly a matter of time when evidence will be reported about neuro degenerative diseases like PD and our foods. Quality comes at a cost

Back in the old days biology etc was just seen as FERTILITY. They knew about bacteria fermentation combustion gasses but it was very rarely spoken off for whatever reasons kept it secret alsmost. But they knew.. I think it was better undetsood in the ART of cultivation rather than just biology .These master gardeners in days gone by practices biology with their art and in cultivation of that art. Takes alot to keep a subject pure without fracturing it into micro facets .

@@drtootsi I was talking last week with another viewer from Europe and he suggested Mack Bio-agrar in Germany. I don't have any experience with them, but I looked at their product range and there is some similarity. I've also had good results with products from Symbiom in Czechia; they are well known for making quality mycorrhizal inoculants (including some for ericoid mycorrhizal plants, they claim to be the first). In addition to making the inoculant, they also have an organic fertilizer blend that has been designed to not only give some nutrients to the plants, but to last a few years in the soil as fungal food. I've used their products early on starting my small farm and am looking to purchase again for a new project as well. edit- I'll note that the products can seem expensive from Symbiom, but if you use their fertilizer in conjunction with compost and soil health practices you can reduce the rate dramatically. It took me three years to use up 100kg of fertilizer in an intensive no-dig market garden with approximately 1000m2 of permanent bed space. I found it useful to use around 1/5-1/3 of their recommended application rates. If you are looking for cold/machine extracted seaweed products searching from Ireland is a good option as a lot of seaweed is harvested there in the EU.

We have been gene sequencing biological inoculates which you can buy. Nearly all of them are terrible, most often they do not contain what the packet says, they often have things not listed and the industry is non standards based garbage in the majority.. Better option for us has always been using worm casts in seed soaks and fetching microbes using KNF Methods added to compost or potting soils. Johnson-Su is a good option too but you need time for this.

Can you please do a show that tells us how to increase soil and veg plant health the most using the cheapest methods available, even if it's not documented or proven. After listening to some videos I'm considering transplanting glossy weeds into my barren clay plot, smearing my seeds in comfrey root soil and crushed comfrey before planting, increasing diversity, buying grain rye or perhaps buckwheat is better for clay soil, mixing in legumes, and trying to create a microbial community using soils, carbs, sugar, and some air. What does a healthful microbe community smell like vs a harmful one? Is 1 pleasant and the other repugnant both for humans and plants? How far up the pyramid stage can someone get their plants without paying extra? How much extra must b paid for small garden results? Sap analysis, biocote gold....

I'd be curious to see what the soil analysis would look like if tested with the MySoil platform. SoiLab KZbin channel has some great side by side comparisons in their Does It Work series testing specific soil amendments. It would be interesting to see untreated soil compared to soil treated with specific biological/microbial amendments to see how the plant available nutrient levels change.

In other videos you talk about how if a plant is reproductive dominant vs vegetative dominant you end up with shorter node space. Being a cotton grower myself it seems that the cotton in the arial photo is growthy on AEA treatment and I suspect that PGRs were used on left. I would rather know if it was better as far as yield and quality. I personally would like to see a smaller plant myself in cotton.

So if you were going to make up a foliar spray to increase photosynthesis composed of Phosphorus, Manganese, Magnesium, Iron and Nitrogen what quantities of each would you use? Assuming Urea is the N source and sulphates for the Iron, Manganese and Magnesium. Not sure about the best form of P to go with this.

Can the soil primer be sprayed right onto the soil or does it need to be applied in furrow at planting?
@larrysiders1
@larrysiders1 2 жыл бұрын
John Kempf has mentioned applying the Primer trio (Rejuvenate, Spectrum, and Sea Shield) to the soil (way before planting) as early in the Spring as possible....and that Fall applications of the Primer (after harvest) are the most effective. Many farmers also spray the Primer into the furrows when planting. Some soak the seeds in the Primer solution just before planting.
@kishjohnson9898
@kishjohnson9898 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dwight.. yes as mentioned a soil surface application works really well, especially in the fall or spring, so we're not limited to in-furrow applications by any means. If the primer is being applied in a context where there isn't an irrigation option then timing the soil primer just before a rain would work really well, to get the application below the first couple of inches of soil.

I would argue spraying it would be a waste of time. The quality of the product is hugely influenced by the equipment..many sprayers kill microbes. Spraying it on the ground would probably involve lots of water and if you live where we live, evaporation would toast the microbes and force dormancy or death. I am looking forwards to seeing actual data supporting the new industry of selling omnipresent microbes that isn't from the vendor

Till or not? 3 year rotation what's the rush to waste all that biomass if you can plant while rolling over cover crops. Perhaps in heavy clay soils you've struck a gold mine. Pottery of course and ceramics the dirt leftovers should become compost then make into tea and repeat.

Biology is a hugely critical factor in having healthy soils and producing healthy plants. We love to hear that people are working to support the biological populations in their soil; it's wonderful that you've been able to gather those materials and put them to good use. Yes, we do sell products, some of which are biological products, but we also have a ton of free resources and information available on our website and here on our KZbin channel. We hope that you are able to find value in those resources and can incorporate any takeaways into healthy cultivation! - The AEA Team

Different folks, different strokes. While there is a sales aspect many farmers/growers don't have the skill, time, or interest in the creation of farm-developed amendments. On our small acreage (3 acres) we are able to do a lot but not everyone has the same capacity. Having a "product series" that can facilitate the soil biology, is priceless. Supporting the research and the outreach education to the general public is a win-win, using their products.
