It's almost kind of similar to slightly close to the actual stories of what the real events of Bonnie's life was like. Except the names of most are changed and the way things happen are estimated in a Hollyweird way. Which isn't unexpected really. Audie does a great job as always but woah man he's WAY TOO GOOD LOOKING to be the real Kid LOL. From the pictures of Bonnie we can see he had a big scar across his face and his teeth were troublesome etc.

Paul 1 even though I'm not an American I was outraged the other day when I saw an image of John Wayne on the Green Beret movie knowing that Wayne was a draft dodger where Audie Murphy and many other American actors put their hand up to help defend their country. And Wayne being the coward was made to be the hero in all of his movies.

@@robertbutler8004 Audie wasn't an actor when he joined up, that happened later after he left the army. John Wayne was considered 4F because he had 4 children and was their sole support. But your right that many actors did put their lives and careers on hold and joined the service, including James Stewart, Tyrone Power, Clark Gable and many others. Audie never got the mental health he needed for all the Hell he went through in WW2 ! Now any toward in the military with a hangnail gets total disability for life and a free ride Audie was a true soldier who lived a nightmare like countless others who really fought !! RIP A M

@@vleldaddio210 The didn't have the care then towards PTSD they have now. Audie spoke out about it and encouraged Congress to do something to help soldiers returning from war. Alot of what is being done now to help soldiers is because of him. I don't think its fair to say anyone Military with a hangnail gets disability for life. Do you know their story or what they went through? I have a feeling that those you say are getting a free ride would rather not. If they are getting disability it's for a reason. The military like the government doesn't give everyone disability even if they need it. I respect anyone who has served in our Military and if they need help I'm for giving it to them. Where would we be without them?

@@rv_316 "No scars of the wars..." You should read up on him -- he was deeply scarred by the war as his wife and those who knew and loved him stated. He would have nightmares of comrades he couldn't save, she said, and be unable to sleep, etc. Alcohol made him abusive. Yes he, as with any who fought through that war and were empathetic people, like my own dad, was deeply scarred by the hell of it. How any of them adjusted to "normal" life again I'll never know, except that many of them depended on alcohol to do so and had been taught to bury their emotions, though their anger could burst through under stress, especially when drinking. I'm sure other wars created the same results for all sides involved.

@@rv_316 He was very scarred by war. As someone else said, he'd have horrible nightmares and once while having a flashback pulled a gun on his first wife, Wanda Hendrix. One of the reasons she left him, because she didn't know how to deal with it. Audie also slept with a loaded gun under his pillow at night. He didn't drink but he did get addicted to sleeping pills, trying to get a good nights sleep, but finally recognized the condition and locked himself in a motel room for a week to go cold turkey. Once of his movie friends who worked with him in several movies, said "Audie was like a coiled rattlesnake, but never in a bad way. He didn't take any guff off anyone and once pulled a stunt man off a horse, who was being disrespectful to the leading lady of the film and told him "never do that again!" most lightly Susan Cabot who was a tiny woman. He also told the story about Audie, that on this same movie, that he and Audie were on their way to the location and had some time to kill so stopped in this bar for a quiet drink. "Audie didn't drink, so he ordered a rum and coke and kept sliding the rum over to me. This big guy who towered over both of us started to harass us, in particular me since I had long hair, that I'd let grow out because my part required it. Audie politely asked the man to leave them alone, since all they wanted was a quiet drink. The man responded by grabbing my hair and pulling my head back. Audie got up and punched this man, knocking him out with one punch then sat down and finished his drink. I was in awe! This man out weighed Audie by at least 100 pounds and was 6'4" if he was an inch and Audie took him down like a sack of potatoes". That was Audie Murphy. A man who had his flaws and demons from war, but had courage by the truckload and loyalty to a fault for his family and his friends.

However, fact of the matter is, Audie Murphy knew guns in wartime and peace time, in real life and movie life 'backwards and forwards.' So, 'southernshooter''s Comment is more valid knowing that that detail re .30-30 being unavailable during The Kid's lifetime would have jumped off the page of the script upon Audie's first reading of it.
